X2 Midi Output Channel for tracks is wrong

OK - I have a project using Kontakt 5, where I have loaded multiple instruments into a single instance of K5, and have changed the Output Section channel names to reflect the names of each loaded instrument.

So, Output channel 1 in K5 has been renamed to Piano, Output channel 2 is now named Rhodes, channel 3 is now Strings, 4 is Organ, and 5 is Bass.  So far so good.

When I go to assign midi output channels for the midi tracks for each of the associated K5 instruments, the drop down list for each channel incorrectly uses only the K5 Output Channel 1's name.  In my project, that is Piano, so EVERY midi channel says like 1: Piano, 2: Piano, 3: piano etc. all the way to channel 16.  That name is also what is displayed in the channel strip's Midi Output Channel name.  My Rhodes Midi Channel says 2:Piano, when it should say 2:Rhodes, as that is what the K5 Output Channel name is set to.

It is visually confusing to look at the Rhodes channel strip in console view and see what looks like an assignment to the Piano midi channel, even though it is actually working per the midi channel NUMBER and not the incorrect name.

Does anyone else see this as confusing?  Can the code be adjusted to pick up the Output channel name as it is specified within the VST plugin - in this case K5 (Kontakt 5)?

    I am SUCH a dork!!!

I figured out what was happening.

The console Midi Channel Output names WERE indeed labelled incorrectly, all saying 1:Piano, 2:Piano, 3:Piano, etc., when my instance of Kontakt 5 had multiple instruments loaded, Piano, Rhodes, Strings, Organ, and Bass.

So I thought X2 was picking up these names from renamed Kontakt Output Section Audio Output Channel names, and using only the first one, which was Piano.

The REAL culprit was that I had originally only had a single instrument loaded into Kontakt 6, Piano, and had renamed the synth name in the Synth Rack to Piano.

Later, I decided to just use Kontakt 5 for multiple synths, and loaded them into Kontakt 5, and DID rename the Output Section's Audio Output Channel names to reflect the respective loaded synth, but I FORGOT to rename the synth name in the Synth Rack in X2 - it still said PIANO.

So, X2 was picking up the synth Name, as it was called in the Synth Rack, Piano, and THAT is why all of the Midi Output Channel names said 1:Piano, 2:Piano, etc.

    DOH!

Sorry if I wasted anyone's time - both for my original ignorant post, and for my less ignorant but still present apology here in my 2nd post.

    A VERY humbled Bob Bone

I have a better one LOL. In a project I edited in X1 ex d when I opened it into X2 I can't select the master buss because its not listed in the drop down of the sub buss I was trying to out to the proper buss. I know this was outing to the master buss in X1.

There are some true bugs in X2 that need fixing. I also am not too happy with the way it will act simply by clicking on the CV can cause a crash.

I can't recall you ever ranting. One reason I posted my issues in your thread.  We can find a way to help each other through our misery.

After reading countless posts I have found ranting has never helped anyone. It often just makes it harder to figure out the problem.

So, was that YOUR version of ranting at ranters?  (kidding)

It was DRIPPING with irony and I just couldn't stop me from being me.

I agree - I got REALLY annoyed in one thread by a guy who posted some pot shots on an issue - then like 2 days went by and only another potshot would get posted, although there were like 50 posts from people trying to get additional info and to get the guy to try this of that.

I finally just dropped out entirely from the thread - and yet I STILL go back and look - and the thread was just left hanging, no solution, just non-participation from the thread initiator.  It STILL bugs me.

OK - I put my soapbox away,

I'll try to go back to generating threads where I have more thoroughly checked to make sure something is a real problem, and will do my best to provide helpful content in anything I post.

Your posts seem to be in that vein as well - not so much grrr in them.   Bob Bone
