Sounds like your have your sound card drivers set up poorly or your sound card doesnt have good enough drivers to run it or something in your pc is wrong. Its hard to say without knowing details.

But i can say for sure, its not X2 like you say it is, as I have used it since it came out and i run it at least 30 hours a week and I have never had a drop out.

One thing you could try is increasing buffer sizes for audio playback

    Rasure,

You set your playback and record buffers to 2048? The default is 128 and I've raised mine to 256 and have no problems with about the same amount of computer power as you.  Isn't there such a thing as setting them too high? Not saying you're doing anything wrong, I'm really not smart enough about these things to know, but from what I remember hearing in the past, this seems high.

    Best,
    Rob

The reason I originally had them like was when I first installed X2 it was seriously dropping out, so had to bump them up. I have since done a format and fresh install of everything,  not sure if something was originally conflicting with X1 or something else, actually Ive just tried them at 256 seems OK now! :-)

Although I don't remember changing them this time around? would wave profiler change them when it runs?

I had quite a few problems with X2 prior to a fresh install.

Glad the fresh install has helped. Did you install from the original downloads or did you  download them again?  I'm really not a fan of downloading these huge program files instead of installing from discs... so much can go wrong with just one byte out of place during download.  I've (knock on wood) been lucky up until now. Now that I think of it, I think 256 might be the default which is why it reverted to that during your fresh install.

    Best of luck!
    Rob

128 is the default and I've never had any reason to change it, even with ancient PCs. If you need to go up to 2048, there must be something seriously wrong with your system...
