My X2 problems so far

So far everything is great and loving X2 except for the following.

1. Level meter issue where meters are either frozen or missing or both in track view during record and playback. Cake is aware and working on the fix for this.

2. Random tracks being automatically automated: A pain in the rump for sure.

3. Once in a while I'll get two black lines on tracks in tracks view. Not a big issue just annoying.

4. It would be nice if the sync between track view and console view when hiding tracks would work. It doesn't work in X1 and still not working in X2. I just keep it unchecked and manually hide unhide. It's not a game changer. Side note: Only soft synths don't sync. No issue with audio tracks.

I love having folders in track view, a great feature. I would love having folders in console view. I have a dual monitor setup. I think being able to close tracks in folders in console view will give back a great deal of real esate.

I like your idea of a track folder like concept in the Console - perhaps we could someday identify 'sections' in the console - could be simple as drag and select a range of channel strips to include in a section, with a tag somewhere to expand or collapse.  Pretty much the same thing - just going sideways, rather than vertical, as in the track folders.

OR, there is already a filter option for display - perhaps some mechanism could be added there?  I would think there would be enough room on a console view to add a little folder with a little button in it with an expand/collapse +/->
But as a concept - YOU get a gold star for the day!

Can you post that as a Feature Request for the Cakewalk folks?

I know this may sound a little shallow but I'd really love to see smooth scrolling in the console and perhaps a smooth animation when opening and closing ProChannels. Sometimes when I'm scrolling and opening and closing a lot of PC's the jumpiness of the movement confuses me and my eyes can't keep track of what tracks I'm looking at. Surely this is why we have graphics cards?

I have a similar problem.  When opening all prochannels in one go, they don't instantly all open. It's like a constant one then the next then the next........... With a large project this is annoying.

Swamptooth, That's a nice tip but the problem is when you have hiden tracks that you want to keep hiden, selecting "show all tracks and buses" un-hides everything you have hiden so you have to hide the tracks again.  Nice tip though.

Having problems with EQ's in X2 studio loosing settings during a mix. Save as you go and it looses the EQ sculptures across various channels. It even went as far opening the wrong plug-ins in FX bin. When you click one it opens another (Today was the first time it did that).  Happens when trying remix projects done in Sonar LE  8.5 & X1 LE. Any helpful suggestions?

@mosvalve - you could freeze the track and then in console view on the options bar select strips and uncheck frozen.

@shook - i had that problem with soft synths in x1 (clicking one it would open another). i did a vst rescan when it happened and it seemed to work. it was especially evident with native-instruments vstis.  for the eq problems see this link...

Every X1 project I opened in X2 had some issues. I wish I was able to help you with your problem. Looks like you'll have to redo your settings. Make sure you copy a project to another location before you open it in X2. You won't be able to open it again in your earlier version.
