    Spacey,

What did you think about "Prometheus"...?
I felt it was a huge disappointment....

    Zungle I liked it.
It kept me entertained and kept my attention.
The special effects that they can do is just amazing.
Nothing really distracted me due to bad production.

I didn't have expectations so nothing really for me to be
disappointed. It was a fun ride in space for a couple of hours.

    Why were you disappointed?

Well like you I felt the production was good.

But it was not without areas that lacked in authenticity.........or at least a better effort towards  realism?

I didn't care for the evolution of the story line and the lack of over all resolution.

I really feel like they threw out a theme concerning creation and our origins,  to draw us in.
But..... took that theme, and surrounded it with rehashed status-quoe  "Hollywood" Sci-Fi /Action garbage to create a full story line?

I'm still unclear as to the true  meaning of it all, it seemed to lack clarity?
    I took a few interpetation's  from it.....not in a good way.

LOL...I think we share some points...
I'm bad about making my own meanings so even
if it had one I'd probably twist it.

I get a kick out of the "rehashed writing" like you know there
are always the ones the run upstairs from the monsters...
So when those two, the biologist and engineer IIRC, head back to the ship
    I had to laugh..knew they'd get lost...oops...sorry.

True meaning? I don't know. I kind of thought it was a simple story line-
an old man trying to beat death but all I know is it was fun for me.

That was clear.....With a push towards becareful what you wish for?

What do you think the point of the "Alien" popping out of the engineers was? It surely does not fit the timeline of the "Aliens" and "Aliens vs Predator" series.

And what was the proof we were even created by the engineers?Perhaps we were both created by another entity. The genome proved nothing but a genetic relationship. I mean the entire human race (with the exception of South Africans) carries a 3%-7% Neanderthal genome........yet I doubt they created us.

    I just don't know..........

There are other things about this film I just didn't get.

I just finished watching it this evening. I enjoyed it greatly, and felt Ridley Scott was taking back his vision of the story. If you disregard Alien 3 and and 4, and the Alien Vs Predator movies, it makes perfect sense. The distress signal sent from the giant humanoids in the original 'Alien' was very old, so there was plenty of time for the aliens to develop.

I also thought Noomi Rapace's performance was excellent, contrary to the reviews I've read.

I saw it in the theater.  Over all, I liked it.  While I had expectations, I tried to stay away from the hype as much as possible so they wouldn't get out of hand.  Like both of you, I found some plot holes, but they didn't bother me enough to spoil the film.

I'm not a big fan of 3D.  The effect has tended to distract rather than enhance the few movies I've seen so far.  They did that right in Prometheus.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?

I took it that the "man" attacked by the alien that they'd had
been producing for warfare spawned "alien" - was just letting
us know how they came to be.

I agree James and think she was great....not to mention tuff as nails.

I liked the ending too. Left me curious about how the alien gets off
and what happens when she gets to where she's going..(trying not to spoil)
I liked the chrome pool balls too!

I was anxious to see it- when it arrived there were two LOL -guess I pre-ordered
    in June and August.
