Cakewalk Amp Sim crashing 64-bit X2 every time

Cannot put this on a track without Sonar crashing, and leaving behind the word "Amp Sim" on my desktop when I kill Sonar.

Anyone else experiencing the same?

I tried it and it didn't crash my Sonar.

    First, I had this problem...
After first installing X2, I had some issues when I added TH2 Amp Sim. The evidence for me was that I would be playing and all sound would stop (processors driven Red). To get sound to resume, I would disable and re-enable the TH2, but it would happen again.

    Solution for me
Properties > File > Audio Data > Record and Render Bit Depth to 24 (down from 32 for me).

You can try lowering it below 24 to 16 if you continue to have problems.

It's just kinda useful to know if the load is the problem. I find TH2 works my processor really hard, even when it's just on a track without any Audio clips.

    Second, I had this problem...
I have had some crashes when flipping between Track View and Console View where strange skylight windows floated... I'm guessing that might be what you are describing when you say 'Leaving behind the word "amp sim" on my desktop when I kill Sonar'. Is it possible that there is a floating Window as you flip between screensets that is showing you the Amp Sim? Did you name the track Amp Sim? or anything else? Not sure. So, for me, I have sometimes flipped from Console View to Track View and caused a crash. At that time, I could see a floating 'Browser' with the Synths in it that was in a place I never put it. I don't know if this is at all related to what you are describing. Does it occur when you change screen-sets?

In general, I'm not having any regular problems. I record at 24 bit 88.1 and have projects with 20 or so tracks and busses etc and I'm working ok in X2. I've had occasional crashes. 3 or 4 maybe. But they are the exception. I have had some issue with mute buttons going goofy, but restarting Sonar has usually resolved my issues. Once I muted a clip b/c I wasn't able to mute the track.

I use a 7 year old laptop that isn't so great, but it's still hanging on.

My X2 is evidently not tickled by 32 bit plugins.

I've altered the record and render bit depths and will see if they work.

As for the graphical problem, I'm not switching between views - I have the main program on one monitor and the console on my second monitor. The stuck artifacts happen when a 32 bit plugin crashes - it's the name of the plugin as it appeared in the FX bin.

So, I have TH2 installed and it's a 64 bit version... It's in the 64 bit VST folder not the 32 bit one.

    C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\TH2 Producer\TH2 Producer-64.dll

Am I wrong here? I think that's the 64 bit version.

Gotcha about the name of the plug on in the FX bin... So... are you saying you are using the 32 bit version of the TH2 but you have installed the x64 version of Sonar? Just trying to be clear.

Crossed wires here: I'm actually talking about the Cakewalk Amp Sim, not TH2, which works fine for me (so far anyway).
