I keep getting emails from them, guess they are hard up for money to be such pests... I'd rather buy fab filters stuff instead :)

I like the Waves plugs but I still don't like the license scheme as you either put the license on a thumb drive or you waste time transferring back and forth using the cloud. Not much different than the Ilok. Doubt I will be spending any more money on them until they can get past the paranoia and let people put their plugs on more than one machine without the hassles. Too many other successful software vendors allow their Customers to use their plugs without the hassles. YMMV... I bought the FabFilter Pro package and haven't looked back. Kind regards, Rick

I bought NPP, Tapes, Tubes, & Transistors, NLS, Maserati, and Gold during the Summer Sale...and paid less for all of them then the price of Gold alone during this sale... Waves plugs are some of the best out there...and I have to tell you.. the Cloud License scheme has saved me a few times already... It's definitely better then an Ilok (and I have one of those and an eLicenser too) Personally, I love Waves plugins....they are most definitely "sonicly superior" to other plugs... BTW...Audio Deluxe is always cheaper then Waves Universe... All upgrades for Waves are currently on sale at AD also...

These are all legacy plugs now. $600 is too expensive. I disagree that they are sonically superior. There are many freeware plugs that equal them for quality now. But I do really, really like the RenCompressor- it is excellent. Full Disclosure- I own Waves Gold.

It's fair to say that Waves' product quality is very good, but a "sonically superior" claim might be hard to evidentially support. I'd be genuinely curious to know of any objective test that might actually confirm that presumption. Personally, Waves' paranoia makes me uncomfortable. Give me a plain old license file, please. I will only buy Waves products singly, and only those that are truly unique in the marketplace - no reverbs, equalizers, limiters or compressors - there are too many alternatives out there from companies that treat me like a customer rather than as a criminal.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

Question on Waves policy. I understand that you get one year of free updates with the purchase price and after that you need to pay an annual "tribute" for the privelege. But suppose you're more than one year out and want to move to a new DAW. Are you prohibited from authorizing on the new machine without the renewal fee? If so, that's reason enough not to ever buy a single item from Waves.

Authorizing "old" plug-ins (not updated) on a new machine shouldn't be a problem. Though at some point in the future, the older versions may no longer be supported and, ultimately, un-authorisable.

Also, I'm not sure about the term "legacy" (could be that I misinterpret it, which is possible since english is only my second language). I've always thought that Legacy was used specifically for products that were no longer under development and/or updated/supported - which isn't the case for Waves plug-ins. Pretty much their entire plug-in collection has been updated to Version 9 recently. Granted they don't add any features to the plug-ins themselves, but they're still darn good.

You can use your Waves plugins on ANY and ALL DAW's that you have installed...no limit... (That's DAW's on ONE machine..not multiple machines) But, if you use a USB drive for the licenses you can have multiple machines, but can only use one at a time...

you're right Rain- legacy was the wrong word. I'm like president bush, I mispoke. I think Waves cloud licensing is really cool but I regret buying "Gold"- it's way overpriced, although there are a couple of nifty things included.
