The Great Wall - a Chillout track
A chillout track I just added to my Soundcloud page here. Any comments/suggestions appreciated.

This is a lovely piece of music that definitely has a soothing effect on the listener. The production is smooth, and makes this the perfect music for stressful situations. Too bad you can't put this in a bottle.

Hey Ultra... Nice! Very relaxed here! I've always liked the "wire" sound (which is what I think this is..but then again, I'm listening to a laptop...) I like the rhythm crossfade at 1:44. A chord change in there somewhere would have topped it off for me. But then again, maybe I need to learn more about this genre, 'cuz I'm always wanting a song to "go somewhere", and I've noticed a lot of chill songs don't. Also, nice "call and answer" kind of groove.
Cheers! Thanks Lynn and Tony for your comments. Tony : I'm not sure what you mean by a couple of things ... "wire" sound ... and "call and answer" ??

The "wire" sound was a type of "voice" a couple of vintage synths made popolar back in the day. I know Yamaha had a good one made with FM synthesis (DX-7), and I think the PPG Wave synth had some 'wire-sounds" in it too. I'm sure others did as well, but I don't know them. "Call and Answer" to me is where a musical phrase is played on one instrument, and "answered" with (or followed by) a complimentary phrase by another...sort of in a repetitive fashion. I think it's cool because it adds motion and variety to the groove. TB

Thanks for the reply ---- re the "wire" sound: I'm not sure exactly which sound you refer to, or if its a general overall sound you meant ... but, most of the synth sounds in the track come from Omnisphere, plus a bit of FM8 and Absynth. Stylus RMX for the drum sounds.

Hey Ultra... I just listened again on real speakers, not my laptop. It made a difference...LOL... Maybe there's no "wire wave" synth in it... could be like a Strat sound perhaps?? Cool percussion parts too. What do you think about bringing up the bass a db or 2??

It kind of meanders on a bit but very pleasant. Nice production.
