UPGRADING TO X2 QUESTION

Hi all,

If one is upgrading to X2 from X1 producer expanded and for some reason in the future one has to reinstall X2 does one have to start all over from X1, all the patches etc... etc then reload X2 or is it a lot more reinstall friendly?

I just loathe the thought of having to go thru loading X1 then all the X1 patches etc... then upgrade to X2 if I ever have to reinstall....will take hours.

Thanks,

Steve

they are completely separate installs... installing x2 has nothing to do with x1 at all..

p.s. pls dont post in CAPITALS.. that means shouting in forumspeak :)

Hi Mystic 38 and thanks for responding. I asked because I am thinking that upgrading from x1 to x2, the upgrade wants to see a previous older versions as that is typically how upgrades work. Guess all I do is enter an x1 license key when asked by x2 when running the upgrade.

ps, I am in the habit of capitalizing on subject lines for ease of viewing to readers but I will keep the tip in mind.

    Thanks again,

actually you dont need the x1 license key..you need the x1 key to be registered at CW so you can get the upgrade price... x2 is totally independent :)

It doesn't work like that. Once you make the purchase the X2 download will appear in your store account. Download that and use the registration info for X2 in your account or from the email you've been sent. Be sure to use a download manager or a browser like Firefox that has an included DL manager. I posted a thread on my download/install procedure. Search google or the forum for a Complete Beginner Adventures with Sonar X2 and it should pop up.

I still keep both in case a older project chooses to not play well with X2. You should have no problems. I think Beebster said it best. Good luck.
