Revisionist Revival (Halo 4 Remix)

Okay, so I'm a sucker for this type of thing, and I probably spent more time than was prudent on this...   I took it as an opportunity to get to know X2 a little better.   I'm liking the changes to the skylight interface but I have to force myself not to keep clicking the same things the same way always have.

This is my (huge, epic) remix of the track "Revival" from the Halo 4 soundrack, created for a contest at Halo4Remix.com.    It's not necessarily what some people may think of when they hear "remix."  Basically, I created my own new piece using parts of the choir from the original recording.  I would jump at the chance to add a live choir to one of my recordings, so this was good fun for me.   I created my own orchestration using LASS strings, plus brass, woodwinds and more choir from the Kontakt library.   I performed the drums using my Roland HandSonic as a MIDI controller to Session Drummer, augmented by some of the percussion sounds from the original recording. I also played some guitar.   If you listen closely, you can hear me chanting like a loony in the background....

You did a fine job on this mix.  It sounded like a fun project, and it comes out in your mix.  I'm just starting to get around X2, and so far, I like it a lot.  Happy camping!

    All the best,

Bruce!  I think the time you spent on this one paid off buddy!  I'm not familiar with Halo4, but this is really cool.  I'm only listening on a laptop right now, but it sounds like it is well mixed, arranged, and produced best I can tell.
I like the chordal modulation at 1:20...
I wish I knew how to arrange strings like that!
Are the voices saying something in particular?  I couldn't make it out on my laptop speakers.

I think I'll have to have a second listen when I get back in my studio tomorrow.

    Good job!

    Cheers!

Lynn and Tony - thanks very much for the kind comments!   I actually have no clue what the voices are saying.    It's either nonsense syllables or a made up language.  Not to worry, I broke up the vocal phrases and took individual syllables out of context anyway...  so if it was saying something before it's not saying anything any more!  ; )

Bruce... just took a second listen on real speakers.  Still sounds good!  Is bass just a tad low in the mix??

    Awesome work my friend.

    Cheers!

Thanks again, Tony.   I appreciate your comments regarding the bass...  Usually I worry that I've got too much low end in the mix!
