X2 Instability - Transport Freeze and Random Crashes

Hi,

I've been seeing some pretty odd behavior, wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.

1.  When I use 'bounce to clip' after doing v-vocal or some other mod, the transport becomes unresponsive.  The space bar nor the play button will actually start playback.  I can still move around in the timeline, so it's not a total freeze, it just will not play through.

2.  Pretty regular crashes/hangs.  Actually more hangs than crashes, since it is not generating an error dump.  Not particularly repeatable, but it repeats.  often.

I just installed the hotfix, thinking it may address the problem, but it seems to have had no affect.

This is on Win7 32 Quad Core machine with a MOTU 828 Mk II.  The project is using 2.6GB (40%) memory and is 41 tracks.

Thanks for any info you can provide on either issue.

By default 32-bit windows restricts the amount of RAM for any one program to 50% of available RAM to a max of 2Gb.

You can set a 3GB switch to force windows to allow a program to take up to 3Gb of RAM.

    May be worth a shot.

oops. That link was for Windows server.  Here's a link for Win7.  It's from Autodesk, not Microsoft, but should work. Autodesk is a reputable vendor.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I just tried that fix, but soon after, it still crashed out.  This time it was the 'Sonar has stopped responding' message.  I never had a single crash in X1, so this is a little frustrating.

I don't crash but sometimes it takes a sec to start playing and stoping in large projects? Feels kind of unstable but it has never crashed?
SAVE "CTRL+S" a project take sometimes long time before SONAR X2 reacts and save?

Is this kind of unstabel things you referring to?

No, these are actual hangs or loss of functionality where I either have to restart Sonar, or the project closes by hanging or crashing.  I have taken to using CTRL-S a lot, since I sometimes only get in a few changes before it bails on me.

Yes, I just installed the 308 hotfix yesterday, but this problem was occurring previous to that.

I installed the VS 2012 Redistributable, restarted Sonar, loaded the project, and it played for 3:54 then froze. :(

That is possible, but everything worked fine with X1.  I am noticing that the crashes always occur while trying to play back or render a V-Vocal clip.  On that last playback, I had a v-vocal clip that was not rendered right where it bailed.  I guess the answer is to render all of my v-vocal clips and then save immediately.

After bouncing it freeze here too for a second. You think SONAR X2 is ready but it isn't.
Happen with Kontakt 5, Omnisphere, Stylus RMX and other plugins like Melodyne etc...
You can notice after bounce if you try to click with the mouse on the arrange window during that small time nothing happen. Takes a extra second after "bounce", then "boom" you are back and you can continue work and edit with the mouse.
    Never crash though...

UPDATE:  Since I was having problems with X2, I decided to go back to X1, and experienced the same issue.   MOTU released new audio drivers a month or 2 ago, so after I updated the drivers, seems like everything is working as expected again.  Thanks to everyone for your advice.
