Hi, Ludwig, it's nice to see you on this side of the forums.  I just listened to "Black Muddy River", and other than saying what a good production it is, all I can say is: Tin soldiers and Nixon coming, we're finally on our own...  I'm sure Neil would love this.  I liked the reference to the Ohio river.

    All the best,

Well, it Kinda IS from Kentucky :O) Our lead singer has only been in South Africa for 3 1/2 years. Before that, well, you guessed right the first time :O) The idea was to give SA something new, even if that meant doing something the States have heard before. Glad you like it though! :O)

Hi D, it IS mastered :O) By my mastering engineer. But it sounded almost exactly like this before mastering - I don't leave anything up to "the next guy". Which is by the way a great attitude to develop if you're serious about your music. :O)

Like it. The mix is really good on this.

Seems odd to me that a band in S.A. would be doing stuff like this, but it's really good.

This really sounds great. The mix and everything is awesome.

Is this supposed to be an original? Check out Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Your song would be sued for ripping off Ohio.

Other than that, I really love it.

This sounds like a band trying to do a cover song and forgot the lyrics so they made them up as they went along. Definitely is borderline copyright infringement. The the other songs are much better. The vocals overall excellent.

I also got the OHIO theme stuck in my head.

Love the tremelo.  Nice and gutsy.  I like the agressive tones.  There were a couple spots I wanted harmony on the vox.. but that's me.  Cool.

Well, we made no secret about the inspiration behind the song - and the track is not for sale. If Mr Young has a beef with it we'll change it gladly, and with total respect. Some might hear it for what it is, an homage to the spirit of the place and time. :O)

You never made a claim about it at all. You said, "from your own band." So naturally we thought it was your own. If you had posted, "an homage to a great song" or something like that, it would have been understood.

I've been thinking about it though. "Stop dragging my heart around" is very similair as well. Don't forget my quote. I wonder how many other songs are very similair?

    Again, love the song!

Hi Guitarpima, you are right I did not mention it in this post, it was somewhere else. Of course, it's only really the verse melody and the word Ohio that has any bearing on "Ohio". We have decided to contact the publishers since it's obviously more of an issue than we had realised. Well, thanks in any way! I wonder what Kid Rock did about his Sweet Home rip-off! :O)
