My X2 Story

I've  reading a lot of the posts, and I think my experience with X2 is typical.
Minor glitches aside, X2 is more stable, sounds better and it's workflow IS improved.

I recently upgraded from an extremely stable xp32 X1D Expanded setup to my present one (sig)
so that I will be able to stay with future iterations of this software. I've been a sonar user since 2XL.

After installing the quickfix most, but not all of the phantom stuff went away.
What is still lacking is well documented so I'm waiting for X2 service pack 1 lol.

What is worth mentioning is that  if you use  a focusrite saffire pro 40 and have been experiencing random artifacts,
restarts, blah blah, It would be worthwhile to try this stuipfyingly simple fix:

SWITCH TO THE WDM DRIVER.

I have a hi powered rig with 16gig of ram and could not get under 24 ms latency ASIO roundtrip without the above stated glitches.

Since switching to WDM running 24 bit 44.1 64 bit engine enabled the profiler set my rtp latency @ 10ms!!!

All 6 cores running EVENLY, nearly invisible at window bottom 20% cpu w/24 tracks 3-5 vst(i) per track +
console emu on every track...

Not one crash in 3 days.

my 2c.

Mel - Good advice. A lot of users seem to have it ingrained to use ASIO no matter what. Truth is either ASIO or WDM may work better depending on the soundcard and the driver version, and I am sure a whole long list of other variables.

Very true. I've certainly used both over the versions and interfaces. My current set up is the first one that has been really good on ASIO, the WDM drivers are awful and I mean awful. They only give me access to 8 out of 24 in/out.

I've tried both (ASIO & WDM) back in X1 days, and both seemed perfectly ok to use regularly.

Achievable latency was about the same, overall performance seemed comparable.
