AC-7 Core and X2
Has anyone had any luck using the two together? I can get it to move sliders, but it totally freezes transport from both the iPad and the computer. Pressing play seems to start playback for a couple of milliseconds and then it just stops. It seems like the programming is way off from before.

there is a known issue that at times it freezes at "connecting" as a control surface but once its connected i have not seen any issues with it...

Working flawlessly here but I prefer V-Control Pro.

I've tried it. You'll need to be in SONAR mode, and click the "reset" button for it to connect successfully.

Works great! Everything mentioned above applies - Plus, I have noticed that under X2, the control surface dialog doesn't change to "connected" until I move one of the AC-7 sliders.

Hmm, that is not the experience I have had. The transport just refuses to budge and only 2 or three of the buttons work. It appears I just wasted $8.

try this.. navigate to C:Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Sonar X2 Producer folder with Windows Explorer and delete (or rename if you're the cautious type) ctrlsurface.dat and ttseq.ini. Restart Sonar, select your MIDI inputs and outputs, create a Mackie control surface and hit reset on the AC-7

Just fired up one after the other. AC-7 is IMHO more finicky - needs a kick start to work. V-Control works straight away. Of the 2 I way prefer this one. Cheers, Jerry

Yes, V-Control is likely to work a bit more reliably. We often work directly with Neyrinck to maintain compatibility.

Yes but V-control is like $50.00 bucks... @ SimpleM... I just reinstalled rptmidi and reinstalled the app on my ipad...it takes a couple of shots to get it to enumerate over the wifi/rptmidi thing... I'm sure you've selected whatever "named" device shows up in reptmidi as a midi device...then selected it using Mackie Control as your surface? Once I've done that I did have to "reset" the prog on the ipad and then it worked, although for the first time in ever I found I actually had to tap on the fadwers in AC-7 to activate them...weird that...but it works fine after that...
I'm using SOnar Platinium on a 6 core Lynx Audio machine and a ton of vintage pre-amps/eq's/comps I build for fun and sometimes money, REDD.47/API/Neve I also use the UAD stuff, and also use a Macbook Logic 9 through Apogee...

Ahh yes, it is a clever app and I have tried to "demo" (free) which only lets you do simple transport and it does it quite well...but you cannot arm/record/etc in the free version. I have never paid $50.00 for ANY ipad app and I have some heavy duty cad and electronics programs, let alone all the office stuff. Besides there's absum-8, AC-7 and a host of apps that allow you to remotely control your desktop at a much less cost for entrance price. I do not begrudge the makers of this app getting a profit, I'm sure the market base is rather slim since most muso's are continuously broke anyway...its just not worth the entrance price for to get a few more bells and whistles that I already don't use. The iPad is great for tracking especially from another room, but its kind of an expensive transport device as a stand-alone and while this program I am sure is the cats meow...at some point everything reverts back to a tactile unit and thats where the money probably needs to go...especially considering "code"...

Cheers, Jerry. Jerry - How "controllable" is the Jog/Scrub function in V-Control? The Jog function in AC-7 isn't bad, but the Scrub function is way TOO touchy, and fairly hard to control. That, and the "M" buttons in AC-7 are in a weird random order and evidently can't be rarranged or relabeled. Thanks - Randy

This i an idea that is worthy...if these apps allowed a lot of personalization they might be worth the steep entrance price...so far you get what you pay for and not much else...
