Getting Session Drummer 3 to work with a midi drum track from Guitar Pro 5

I am very VERY new to home recording. I have sonar x1 Producer, USB presonus audiobox and an asus dual core laptop. Im not getting any sound when I add the session drummer 3 synth. TTS-1 works fine but I would like to use session drummer 3. I have read/listened to different ways of doing it to make it work. The guitar pro file is a midi sequence. I don't know if maybe session drummer 3 doesn't work with that? I tried switching my driver to ASIO from WDM and it showed me an error message and wouldn't let me play the tracks. I tried changing the options in the soft synths. Just lost at this point.

Anyone have this problem??

    Welcome to the family, Jake.

It is not at all clear where things stand at the moment from your post.  Obviously the SD3 is not being heard, but I mean about where all of the other settings are.

Can you get things back to where you have sound output using the ASIO drivers - any track, even an imported MP3 song, just to make sure that you have playback sound?

This would get things to where at least all of that stuff is working, and it sounds like you were there at least at one point.

I will try to help you figure out what is happening, just need a good starting point.

Also, it is usually helpful for folks in the forum to be able to at a glance see your system specs - most of us add them to the bottom of our posts by listing them in the signature.  You can add the specs there by going in to edit your forum profile.  You will see a tab for signature, and if you put your specs there they will be added to the bottom of your posts.

Anyways, post back when you get it back to where other things are playing and it is just an issue Session Drummer 3.  If you have changed so many things that nothing plays and you do not know what you did, we can help with that too - it is just a longer process.

Are you getting any sound from Session Drummer 3? Or no sound at all?

Did you load a Program or Drum Kit into Session Drummer 3 first?

I figured it out but its still a bit of a process. my asio driver wasnt working so I downloaded asio4all and used that. so finally my asio control panel opens. Then to get the guitar pro midi file to work I had to add a midi track with the gp5 midi file and then add the session drummer 3 synth and load a program for that. then add another midi track and copy and paste the gp5 file from the first midi track into the new midi track and for some reason it works.
