Need help installing Symphonic Strings (Digital Sound Factory)
During the process of installing Digital Sound Factory Symphonic Strings, I continue to get a message that this program can't find Dimension Pro 1.5 and that I need to install it. Dimension Pro 1.5 is installed and registered. I click "Okay," but the message just keeps popping up. Have disable/remove it with task manager. Anyone got any ideas?? Thanks much, Sam

Slightly Obvious question but I suppose you have dim pro installed or have you authorised dim pro? and are you running the installer as administrator?

Yes, I do have Dim Pro installed and registered and authorized. I also run as administrator. Any other ideas?

Hey - I don't know if you are in the US or not, but can you try giving the tech support folks a call on this? They have been pretty helpful to me on things like this. You may also submit a bug ticket to them - think that would take longer to get a response, though. I seem to remember some folks having some error messages popping up during expansion pack install for Dim Pro, but I thought that they fired up Dim Pro anyways and seemed to have found the expansion pack like it was supposed to be. Don't know the specifics, and don't know if it is the same sort of thing you have trouble with. Doubt it would help, but maybe worth downloading the expansion pack and installing? Or perhaps re-installing Dim Pro and then trying the expansion pack again? Just grasping here, but no tech support until Monday so I thought it maybe worth a try. Hope this gets resolved for you, Bob Bone

Just curious - what version of Dim Pro? Also, can you please attach your system specs - hardware and software - to your forum signature? That may help for this and any future issues you post on the forum. Bob Bone

Not sure but just throwing stuff out there. I had Dim Pro 1.5 installed and registered since X1. When I installed X2 it asked for the registration code again. I looked in my Cakewalk download list and noticed that the Registration code for Dim Pro 1.5 that comes with X2 has a different code then the existing one. Maybe you need to be sure that you're version is registered with the X2 code. Not sure why that would matter since they're both Dim Pro 1.5 but maybe the Strings are looking at the older install? Yeah... it seems as though the DP delivered with X2 is a separate entry from the one in X1. Same with Rapture for anyone that already has it.

if you already had dp 1.5 installed, installing from x2 just messes it up - should be a faq/sticky....

Mike Yeah, I did registrar Dim Pro with the new X2 code. Also have tried running Digital Audio Strings as administrator several times. Real mystery. I'll just try different things. Maybe reinstall Dim Pro, although it works find inside X2. Peculiar that no one else has encountered this problem. I may have to contact Cakewalk tech. Second, I'd like to say thanks to all the nice people that respond and try to help on this forum!!!!

Did you have a older version of DimPro installed prior to 1.5? If so, there might be some old registry entries that the DSF installer is picking up.

Have you tried calling tech support? I had some weird Dim Pro problem once and they generated a new reg code for me and all has been well ever since. Just a thought, Bob Bone

I can't post the solution here, as it involves a link to a download so that you can manually install. Anyway, I have the strings installed now.
