Euphonix/Avid Artist Transport with X2?

I'm considering buying one of these for my PT10 and I'm just wondering if/how well it works with X2.    As I understand it, I will need to download the Eucon support installer, so I'd like to hear from those of you who own(ed) one. Any major issues that I should be aware of?  Work fine in 64-bit?

    Hi Cryophonik,
CJ is using the Euphonix Artist Transport and he says it works OK for him. I kinda want one myself, so if you get one let me know how it works for you?

    Hi Cryophonik,
I have both the Avid Artist Control and Mix. Both worked in a fashion in X1 with limited capabilities.
Pretty much all that was really useful was the sliders and pans, just about everything used in the touch screen on the control I couldn't get to work. Trying to assign knobs and switches to controls just didn't seem to work.
I got X2 when it first come out, back then I tried to get the Artist series to work on it with no luck.
The eucon drivers for X1 don't work on X2, or at least I couldn't get them to work back then.
After spending so much time and money trying to get a decent controller to work in Sonar I finally gave up.
I got PT10 which works fine with the Artist series and use it for mixing.
I love X2, the software itself works better than any other DAW I have tried, I just wish they would get it to work with controllers.
I record and use X2 for virtual instruments, then make separate audio files for each track and load them into PT10 and use the Artist controllers for mixing in there.
I really would love it if cakewalk would get X2 going properly with the Artist series, if we could get full control of things like the pro channel strips it would be the perfect setup.
For now I have lost confidence with Cakewalk and controllers other than their own. Even then it wouldn't surprise me if they had problems.

    Ian Mill,
I too am looking at the artist series,   are you using 64bit drivers?  I E-mailed Cake and they said that the drivers for 32bit worked but could not say anything about the 64bit.  To be honest they were not very informative and left me with more questions than answers.  I think I will choose your path, as I also feel the same way as you do.  With the introduction of Pro Tools 10 and the depth in which the artist series interacts with the software I would be foolish not to pursue that avenue.  To bad Roland has NOT fully got behind the VS-700 being it's FLAGSHIP controller for Sonars FLAGSHIP software.  And you are wright there has been some issues with the FULL intergration of the VS-700.

    Hi mpop,
I did have it working with X1 64bit, limited though, most of the functions in the artist control wouldn't work, only the basic stuff.
I am now using 32bit as protools has problems finding plugins when using 64bit, protools will work in 64 bit but does not have a 64bit engine.
It's been a frustrating path getting setup, and I am still not completely happy with what I have but can get things done quite quickly now.
Cakewalk has to realise that using a mouse is far to slow and they will never be compared to other DAWs until they take controllers more seriously.
It's really nice software with a heap of good stuff that others don't have, it also runs very stable. But it's a pain in the ass using the mouse for everything and very slow to do so. In particular when trying to do the final mix.
The artsist series has so many good features that speeds up mixing, it would be perfect if sonar could be configured to work with it the way protools does.
Sonar just doesn't seem to want to play nice with any controller.

I know this isn't going to be helpful but it's difficult not to chime in.  This has bugged me for a long time. Cakewalk seems to think its ok to release new versions of Sonar with no consideration to keeping control surface dlls up to date. I'm not talking about creating new functionality. But simple maintenance to keep them working as they originaly did. Even thier MCU is out of date with the current version of Sonar. I'm sure if they did many users would feel confident in buying control surfaces to use with Sonar. But their history should make anyone weary.

So true... some of us are staying with Sonar because it is still fantastic software however you can see why PT is the king when it has so many hardware solutions. It is still the only platform with long term ongoing support. Cake don't really care to support even their own now outdated hardware so how could anyone expect them to support any third party hardware?

Sadly they will lose some users... shouldn't be happening. Get with the program Cake IMO.

    Cheers.
