Let's Write One for Us

Here's a Youtube video that was recently posted public that I hope might be fun to share here.

It was produced by a band, Glitter Chariot, which came out to my place to make the music part of the project before they went off and shot their video.  They did all their own video production, editing, etc. They did some final remixing on the music to sweeten the sound for the picture as well.

I was excited to get to work with them and I'm glad to see they finally posted the video.

It's a slow moving duet about love: Let's Write One for Us

We didn't get to the final chorus harmonies on this song until day 2. I was taken by surprise, and delighted when they started adding those extra vocal tracks.

Good Times.

best regards,
mike

I really like the song, and the video, well I like that too.

The video has a certain "Cirque" feel about it....

The vocals are well done where the "band" kicks in... love the layering in the BGV.

Thanks to all of you for taking a look and listen.

    :-)
The band members look a lot different when then aren't in costume.
    :-)

They are all musicians with visual arts back grounds so the visual part of the performance is a big part of their interest.

Mike, you did a fine job on the production of this song.  The video has a professional look, and the band played their parts, well.  Kudos to all involved in this.

Great job on this Mike. Really liked the band when they all kicked in toward the end and wish that I could hear more of that but the duet was nice as well.  Simple acoustic parts sometimes grab me more than the fast technical playing. The band is  talented and the mix works well.

I sometimes don't "get it" on music videos. The graphics/presentation and feel of the music  relate in the way the camera pans slowly between performers. The slow panning and neutral to subdued backdrop add to the feel of the tune. I admit I'm not completely getting it though.

    Mike,

Good work on the mix.  The song and performance was really good.    Can't hear one single thing that I would change.   Quite outstanding.

About the video, I realize you were not involved with the video....   I am sure there is some underlying artist meaning but I don't get it.   Not to mention that people that have a fear of clowns will never be able to watch the video;)

Thanks to everyone for listening and watching.

@spacealf, yes... that is perceptive of you and in fact I feel I misspoke when I described the song as being about "love".

I think the theme the song writer is working with is more focused on the frustrations associated with passion.

The 2 songs we worked on are an attempt to describe how a man may struggle with a feeling of passionate enthusiasm towards a recent infatuation while finding himself unable to deny an enduring love for his actual soul mate.

The silver girl is the soul mate, the red girl is the infatuation, and the confused guy ends up acting like a pathetic clown.

I don't think that the band has a clear concept of how the costumes relate. They've been doing the costume performances for a decade but they are just starting to write original material for the band.

They are artists... all we get to see and hear are symptoms of their ongoing interests... what we get doesn't necessarily make sense.

It's just stuff that's out there.

The bands interest in exploring ideas is what attracted me to the opportunity to work with them. They all turned out to be remarkably thoughtful and serious people who were interested in having some fun. :-)

    Good times!

    Thanks again!

    best regards,
    mike

Very good, the music v captivating.

I will say the intro opening seen totally captivated me and I loved the weirdness of it, in fact you have just provoked an idea for a video for me.

Love those backing vocals at 3:50 and builds well

When the harmonies all came in I actually got chills.  This is a fine piece of music.  Do they do the whole makeup thing for gigs or was it just for the video?  Some great vocalists.  I couldn't believe how entranced I was with the music and the video.  Give them a thumbs up for me!  Great job by you too, Mike.  I just loved it all!

    Hi everyone,
Thanks again for listening and thank you very much for the kind comments... it means a lot to learn that people enjoy the work.

Warren, yes they perform in full costume and often times hire a special effects person to help with stage antics. As I mentioned, they started doing the costumes well before they started writing their own music. It will be interesting to see how they bring the two ideas together.

Thanks for mentioning that the chorus gave you chills... I must admit, it still does it too me too.

     all the very best,
    mike

this is why I am here on cakewalks forum not so much to push my stuff but to see what you all are doing.

I didn't think i would like it, the first scene with the solo player won me over. I think they got a lot of bang for there creative dollar you have an interesting visual.

I get wordy - suffice to say I like it a lot. and respect the effort

I would say do or have done  a progressive trance remix

Kids in clubs love torment and frustration, makes them dance sexy

example gotye - somebody that i used to know - tiesto remix

    nothing wrong with this.
