A-500 PRO, Getting the pads separate from the keyboard for live performance
Hey guys,
This is my first post on the forum... I got so frustrated I had to come here!
Basically, I use my A500 pro (49 Keys) in a live setting on stage (using the software Mainstage - which is like a live version of logic pro ). I was wondering if anyone knew how to separate the Pads from the main Keyboard such that I can then have a 'percussion channel' which will take midi messages from the pads, and a 'keyboard chanel' which will take midi messages form the keys.
As far as my progress goes... I can't separate them at all haha. And for some reason the Youtube tutorial doesnt work with the CakeWalk, maybe I have to split the midi messages from the pads/keyboard before they actually leave the keyboard??
Cheers!

EDIT:
HARDWARE: Macbook pro, A-500 PRO 49 Keys, Saffire pro audio interface (which doesn't do anything in this case because I plug keyboard straight into usb port).
SOFTWARE: MainStage

I don't have an A-500 but I do have one of its predecessors the PCR-800, so I'm sure it won't be that different.
On that you can either use the editor on the PC to assign the necessary settings or do it from the keyboard. The PC editor is probably easier.
Either way you can assign the parameters you want including channel number, depending on how you have it attached it's also possible to use different ports.
Look for "assigning MIDI messages" in the manual where it should explain how to do it.

maybe assign the channel to midi channel 10 also, well get it to send the message on that port.
