hi,
i dropped my laptop and have damage the screen so i thought it wasn't great to start with so i have just bought an alienware m14x and i'm wondering is there any special way of uninstalling it from my old laptop and reinstalling on my new laptop or is it just straight forward?
any help or advice would be great as always

Well, you can just copy any project folders (hopefully audio-per project so audio folders live within project folders), and also loceate and copy any downloaded install files and serial numbers of any third-party plugins and such.

If you created any custom drum kits, effects presets, or synth presets, you will need to locate and copy those, as well.

If your Sonar installation files were downloaded files, then copy those over as well.

After you review and copy any needed folders and files to some transfer medium, such as an external hard drive, uninstall Sonar and whatever other software you are going to be transferring over, then load all of the copied data onto your new machine, followed by installing everything.

Your Sonar license is good for use on 1 computer at a time, so there should be no issue, and the process of copy/uninstall/load/install is pretty straight forward.

You can install Sonar on as many computers as you want - the licence restriction is that you can only USE one at a time.

I have it installed on 3 machines currently and I'm fully compliant with the EULA.

You do NOT have to uninstall it from your laptop before installing on the new pc

    You are quite correct, Bristol.

I was meaning to suggest uninstalling it if he was going to no longer use that laptop.  It is certainly not a prerequisite to loading it on his replacement computer.
It sounded like he was retiring the damaged laptop.  Were he to give to someone he is not allowed to transfer the old Sonar to someone else.  I was just trying to keep it all simple.

I should have just limited my initial post to something like 'yup'. :)
