punch recording missing midi data

USING SONAR X1 PRODUCER (LATEST PATCH X1d build 533)

When recording a midi track without auto punch everything works fine. However if I use auto punch I find that recording doesn't begin at the punch in time. When I play back the new take, the first beat of the measure is missing. I'm not sure if it's and entire beat but there is a small gap with no data between the punch in time and when I hear sound.I've experimented with the record settings. I've used both SOUND ON SOUND AND OVERWRITE options.
After making these adjustments the problem is corrected but only temporarily.

I found some info in the Forum, and tryed PREFERENCES>EDITING>WHAT TO DO WITH EXISTING MATERIAL>REPLACE WITH NEW.

I got the same results. Only a temporary fix.
I've not tried auto punch with an audio track so I don't know if this is just a midi problem. I've done many projects in sonar successfully but only when I don't use Auto Punch. Any help out there with this problem?

Greatly appreciate any advice.

set the punch region about a quarter note before you want to record... if your timing is even a millisecond before the start of the punch region, it will not pick up the first note.

If it's just a few notes you want to correct, you could do it manually in the PRV, rather than going down the punch/re-record route.
