Slate Touch Screen Console (video)

We all knew this day would come.  I am definately not a fan of touch screens (see "hate them") .  However, I would still like to try this out for a few days, just for curiousity sakes.

I thought it looked pretty interesting also and I'm not a big touch screen fan myself.

However, I couldn't help but wonder about just how well another piece of software is going to integrate with my DAW (X2). Meaning when the pedal hits the medal is my four component Fx Chain in the ProChannel going to be 'mappable' to some knobs on the Raven? I'm skeptical.

Still I give a thumbs up for cool looking gear.

    Regards,

I would be too.  My simple Mackie MCU doesn't do it so I imagine something as sophisticated as the Raven will definitely have issues.

I don't think it's a good buy. Touch screeen will become more easily available and Sonar will support them eventually as well.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

I hope not.  I am still hoping this whole "touch screen" nonsense will be a fad.  Similiar to Cabbage Patch Kids or Hockey...

One word - soft synths.  That is two words, actually, but you get my drift.  Replacing analog synths and digital synths.  Because of costs.

There will be a place for hardware, just like there is a place for a console, but many users will gravitate to a one screen-to-rule-them all touchscreen.  As above, I'm pretty sure most of them won't include montioring etc. that the Raven does.

The slate thing is highly overpriced and un-inspiring in capabilities...not really anything you might not be able to do with a remote touch screen setup...I had a friend who demo'd it and he said it was a shiny button toy with a Mercedes price...he actually noticed serious latency problems at the AES show...go figure...

I'm using SOnar Platinium on a 6 core Lynx Audio machine and a ton of vintage pre-amps/eq's/comps I build for fun and sometimes money, REDD.47/API/Neve I also use the UAD stuff, and also use a Macbook Logic 9 through Apogee...
