Recording Bass????

First off X2 is the first time I've had a problem free installation. But it took a couple of tries to get it fully installed. An automatic improvement in overall sound quality -- especially separation of sound. Thanks!

However, been having issues recording bass and I think I must be doing something wrong. A lot of breaking up on the low end and really can't get good clarity or volume.  Have used all sorts of pre-( Tascam 1800 or Edirol UA-25) processing units or just run straight through Sonar or Guitar Rig or the new Sonar guitar unit (THF???). Middle end or High end are fine, but I just can't get the tight punchy low end sound. It's fine pre-computer and then....blah-b! Synth basses work fine, BTW. Any advice would be welcome as I think I must be forgetting something as it was all fine in Sonar X1.

Does your bass have active pickups? If so, you might need to change the batteries in it.
