No Audio Devices Showing Up - PreSonus AudioBox 1818 VSL)

Just got a new computer (Win 7 64) and audio/MIDI interface (PreSonus AudioBox 1818 VSL - USB) - Sonar X2 and Drivers etc preinstalled.

The Presonus Mixer Software is fine and Windows sees the interface audio I/O under Control panel - also when I bring up stnd alone Komplete applications (e.g. Battery) they see the AudioBox I/O, but when I bring up Sonar X2 there are no Audio Devices to check under the Preferences -  Audio list - Sonar does see the 1818 VSL under MIDI devices.

I'm stymied - any suggestions - hopefully something simple - Ron

I have the same setup - are you possibly plugged into a USB 3.0 port?  If so, plug it into a USB 2.0 port.

Also, it should be your default audio device in Windows.  Is it?

And this may sound stupid, but unless you have it checked to do so, the interface driver UI that sits in the system tray (bottom right corner of your monitor) is NOT set to automatically run.  If you look in the system tray and do not see a little blue icon for the AudioBox 1818VSL, then you need to get it running AND tell it to start when Windows starts.

If it is not running, then go find it in the Presonus folder in the Start Menu All Programs, and kick it off.  Once it starts, you ALSO have to click the Setup tab at the top of the interface UI, and check the box that tells it to load with Windows.

One other thing - to hear anything out of the headphone jack on the front of the interface, you have to 'Link' the following channels in the interface UI: Audio Channels 1 & 2, and DAW Channels 1 & 2 as well as 7 & 8.  To link 2 channels in the Audio Box interface, once you have the interface UI open, click on the DAW tab at the top and it will show some DAW channels, in addition to the others.  To link audio channels 1 & 2, look at the bottom of the channel strips, in BETWEEN channels 1 & 2, and you will see what looks like a sideways number 8.  Click on that, and it will link those 2 channels.  Do the same for DAW 1 & 2 and for DAW 7 & 8.

    Please review and post back.

Thanks a lot. I did have it in a USB3 port - then I wouldn't have thought to have to toggle that thing to enable it. Everything seems to be working fine. I'll try recording tomorrow.

Now I have to figure out why my Toontrack stuff isn't installing right.

A lot of changes at once - new computer - new OS and 64 instead of 32 bit - new interface - new program versions

I am no genius, trust me.  I called Presonus tech support when it happened to me and they figured out that I had it plugged into a USB 3.0 port.

Wish I could take the credit for it, though - maybe next time :)

I am just glad it was that simple.  It seems that most things like this have been encountered by enough people that once we post the issue in the forum someone out there posts a real time saver.
