This has been bugging me for months- wuts, uh, the deal?

Prior to X1, I seem to remember that it was easier to slip edit a clip's length when it already had a fade in it.   Now, no matter where I put my mouse, it seems I have to first edit the fade of the clip, then I can edit the length.  It's pretty annoying.
Is my memory wrong?  Is there a keystroke?  Is it fixed in X2? (cuz I'll download that sh1t right now!)
Thanks!

There are at least 3 different hotspots on the end of clips for slip editing. Try zooming vertically and try them out. It's a bit weird but one of them definitely slip edits while keeping the fade intact. They did do some changes in X2 but I'm just getting down to editing with it for the first time. Cheers.
