Unable to start X1 Studio

Hey Gang,
I know I came to the right place. Need a little help. I think I might have deleted a file needed to start X1 studio. Don't ask how, but when I try to open X1 Studio. I am getting an error message stating "This application was unable to start correctly (0X000007b). When I go to my X1 Icon it is greyed out. I originally purchased through the website and am attempting to download X1 again, from my account. It's taking quite a while so I thought I'd ask for any suggestions or remedies. I hope all my files are not gone.
Any input would be appreciated.

Try a system restore to the a few days prior to this happening.

Right now I'm in the middle of reinstalling from the website. Do you suggest I cancel, or let the install run first?

Try holding down the shift key while starting. That'll let you enter safe mode in case there's corruption in your template.

What do you think about reinstalling software first? I'm pretty sure some portion of the software was deleted accidentally.

Yep, if you think you've deleted something re-install is the way to go.

Hey gang, need a little more help. I un installed software. Since I did not buy the CD and downloaded original software on line, I need to do the same now to re-install. Problem is.. I can access my friggin account. I had to re-set my password, which only re-sets it for Cakewalk Forum not for access to my account. I requested new password, but am not receiving an email response ( I checked my spam as well) Customer service is only available M-F from 1-6 (which is rediculous) Has anyone else out there been having any problems with the cakewalk site? Just curious and venting I guess. Now that my software is uninstalled I have no program to do any recording.

Well,I mean they have families also-Most of the software I have no one is available on the weekends. I have to ask, what did you do with the original download you installed it from? I see no reason on earth why you would buy a download product and delete the installer after you installed it. Am I missing something here?

Understood, but the only customer service at all is only available from 1-6 and this is Monday thu Friday.
Anyway, I installed from my account on the website. I don't know where to find the installer. i got an email from cakewalk telling me what files to delete and I deleted them all. I am pretty computer savvy, but I'm not a professional. When I purchased the software from the site I just followed the instructions. I'm not sure where to find the installer if I still have it.

They also emailed me a link to download the product, but the link is no good. I'm not bashing Cakewalk, I'm just trying to download the software that I bought or trying to get some customer service on the weekend.

You cannot install it from the website-that would take 3 years. So you must have downloaded it. Have you searched for it? I don't understand what you mean "CW told you to delete files? Never ever saw that. How can they tell you to delete files. That's crazy. Sure it was a CW account site? CS , only 1 to 6? That is NOT correct. Are we talking about CW here? Very strange.
How did CW convey this "delete files stuff"?  Sorry, but this is all too weird.

OK-Just search for the download. CW would NEVER, EVER tell you to delete the installer-that's what you buy.

This is kid of long sorry. This is what they advised

Problem/Questions: Customer needs to clean install the software because he accidentally deleted some vital parts of SONAR and now it will not open.

Solutions: To completely un-install SONAR X1 Studio from your computer. Since your uninstaller is not working, you will want to manually remove the SONAR installation files by deleting the following directories. Do this by doing the following:
    1) Open the Run Prompt by holding down the Windows Key on your computer and pressing "R"

    2) In the Run prompt type in the following and press [OK]: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\

    3) Delete the "SONAR X1 Studio" folder contained within

    4) Open the Run Prompt by holding down the Windows Key on your computer and pressing "R"

    5) In the Run prompt type in the following and press [OK]: %appdata%\Cakewalk

    6) Delete the "SONAR X1 Studio" folder contained within

    7) Open the Run Prompt by holding down the Windows Key on your computer and pressing "R"

    8) In the Run prompt type in the following and press [OK]: %allusersprofile%\Cakewalk

    9) Delete the "SONAR X1 Studio" folder contained within
Next you will want to delete your SONAR related registry keys by doing the following:
    10) Open the Run Prompt by holding down the Windows Key on your computer and pressing "R"

    11) In the Run prompt type in the following and press [OK]: regedit

    12) Click [OK] will launch the Registry Editor. If prompted with a message "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes...", click [Yes].
***** IMPORTANT: When you access the Registry Editor, create a backup by going to File > Export. In the Export menu, make sure you have "All" selected and that the "Save As Type" is set to "Registration Files (*.reg).
It is very important to create a backup of your registry because if you accidentally delete a registry key there is no undo function. You can, however, double-click on the Registry backup you made above to re-import your registry keys if you make any mistakes. You MUST re-import your backup (if needed) before restarting your computer.

    *****
    13) Now delete the following Registry keys:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Studio\X1

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Studio\X1

IMPORTANT: You will want to delete the "X1" folder at the end of these strings of keys. Do this by right-clicking on the ""X1" folder and selecting "Delete". Only do this for the "X1" folders in the locations above. If you do not see these ""X1" folders, proceed to the next step.
*Please note that this will remove any effects presets and key bindings you may have made in Cakewalk. You can back these up separately if you like from SONAR's Plug-in Manager and Color and Key Bindings menus.
At this point, you will want to re-install the product. We recommend temporarily disabling your startup programs by doing the following:
    14) Open the 'Run' command again and type in the following: msconfig

    15) Click [OK] and then click on the Startup tab at the upper right of the window that opens.

    16) Uncheck all items listed, click [OK], then restart your computer. You can always recheck those items again at a later time.

    17) Reinstall SONAR X1 and the updates from http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/product.aspx/SONAR-X1

Here are some fresh links to this software:

I am in NY the only phone numbers that I see on the site say customer service on Mon-Thu from 1-6. I can't find any other number on the cakewalk site or anywhere else. If you know of one please share.

They are rar files, you may need to add the extension. I think I just removed the [1] text. Yes, that is what I did and all installed well. Try that with the downloads you have.

You need to remove the [1] if I remember correctly. They are RAR files but the extensions are messed up, but not hte file itself.
Try that and only double click on the very first one. The rest should be automatic.
    Good Luck

I thought each part is a self-extracting RAR file. That would make the correction extension exe, not rar.

I'll have to try and remove [1] text. It looks like part 2 was going to install, but was getting hung up because I had to download part 1 first. I am going to try and get in touch with customer service today. Only a four hour window to get in touch with them. Still don't understand this. It is what it is though. If I can get logged in to my account, I can probably just download the upgrades to X1 Studio there. Right now I can only acces X1 Essential. It was a lost weekend for recording. I guess this teaches me a lesson to buy the CD instead of downloading on line.
