(Updated) Lines in the Sand (Dream Theater Cover)

I just finished a new room and installed new gear. This is the first product created in the space. It's just the solo section from the Dream Theater song Lines in the Sand. Let me know what you think of the clarity, etc. I'm trying to dial in the room for drums, electric guitar and mixing. It's a heavily treated basement room, and I have more material to install if I really need to.

Thanks in advance for any comments!

Let me know which one you like better.

Thanks again!

Thanks Larry. I just got a weird notice on YouTube notifying me that my recording my violate a copyright.

I updated the mix today. I personally think it sounds better, but I would really like additional feedback. Flame away.

This is a beautiful recording and mix.  I like the panning and arrangement very much.  The guitar has a David Gilmour sound that I love.  My only issue is that it's light on the bass guitar on my system, and I'd like to hear a few more db's.  The tone of the bass is very good from what I can hear.  Still, this song is quite good!

    All the best,
    Lynn

Thanks Lynn. I've been trying to dial in new gear in a new room, and after you listen to your own mix so much, it's hard to know what sounds good or not. One of my friends suggested that I make the kick more apparent which I did in this version. Maybe I'll up the bass just a hair and sidechain it from the kick.

This was the first time I mic'd the bass ever. I had always used a DI in the past.

    Thanks again for the comments!
