Problem getting MIDI data from LoopBE30 pipes [SOLVED]

LoopBe30 is like MIDIyolk in that it creates MIDI pipes that appear as input and output devices that can be used to send MIDI data between programs. In particular, I am using the Overture score writer as my MIDI data source, and Sonar as the synth host.

I have 8 MIDI tracks coupled with the same number of Dimension and Rapture soft-synths.
Each MIDI track has its input set to the appropriate LoopBE30 MIDI input pipe, and the track MIDI output is directed to one of the Sonar soft-synths.

My problem is that Sonar X2 (or any of the previous versions) MIDI tracks do not receive the MIDI input data from LoopBE30 MIDI pipes.  I am having this problem on tracks 1-3, but track 6 works sometimes, as indicated by the MIDI and volume lights on the tracks.  Sometimes the track in focus (track 6 mostly) will appear to receive data, but mostly no.

If I use these tracks from Overture as inputs to various synths such as Dimension and Rapture via LoopBE30, they play fine. Of course, only one instance of Dimension or Rapture stand-alone is allowed at a time, so I really want to use the DAW as the synth rack.  Other stand-alone soft-synths also play fine from Overture, I just can't get the MIDI data into Sonar X2.

This has never worked in previous versions of Sonar or Pro Audio either.  I do see however after a search on this problem, that others may have successfully used MIDIyolk in this same way.  After years of trying to get this to work, I think there is a bug in Sonar where it cannot read LoopBE30 input pipes.  Any ideas?

    Mike,

I have used LoopBe30 for a couple of years with SONAR 8.5 through X2. I haven't used as many ports simultaneously or used such a complex arrangement as you describe (I don't have Overture score writer), but I have never had a problem with it.
Have you turned Input Echo on for all of your MIDI tracks?

Can we ask what your controlling device (going in to LoopBe) is?

    Don,
That was it.  MIDI echo was set to Automatic.  Changing all inputs to 'Echo On' allows all tracks to play.  Thanks, this tip has really made my day.  I might add that all inputs were set to Omni since each track carries only one instrumental voice.

Overture is a score editing tool with MIDI out ports, like Finale, only with a much shorter learning curve, and intuitive and elegant formatting options.  See www.sonicscores.com.  It has a VST engine, but I just wanted Sonar to be my DAW instead of going through a MIDI file to get from Overture to Sonar.  By linking Overture's track outputs to Sonar's track inputs I have instant access to any changes I make to the score.  Later, if I wish, I can use Sonar's features to finish the song.
