ADR for Film?

I've recently used Sonar for scoring and sound design on a couple of small film projects, and now have an opportunity for a full-length film. However, the film maker's distribution deal requires that all dialog be done via ADR (Automated Dialog Replacement).

I understand the concept of how and why ADR is used in major film productions, but it is not something I have personally been involved with and have no direct experience.

Anyone on this forum experienced in ADR offer any advice or direct me to some resources that cover the technical aspects?

Other applications have add on packs that offer great dedicated ADR functionailty.

Is the replacement dialog in the same language as the original content?

You can kinda sorta use Audio Snap to do crude ADR.

The stuff available for Pro Tools and Nuendo is dedicated to ADR and has lots of solid automation features.

Vocalign is a VST that could work in SONAR, but it's full functionality requires VST3.

    Have fun.

    best regards,

Although I've used PT and Nuendo in the past, I won't have access to them on this project (VERY low budget). I've seen Vocalign in action, but this will be a Sonar-only project.

The dialog will be in the same language as original content, but part of the reason for ADR is so that it can be easily dubbed into other languages.
Your link to the Art Of Foley from another thread is proving to be quite enlightening. I'd love to find something similar with regards to ADR -- or any aspect of film audio for that matter. Thanks!
