cup of tea

This is one of my older songs I decided to record at home.

Anyway, here:

You can download it if you like.

Was wondering how the mix sounded. I had another version on there that was overcompressed in my opinion and so I put this one on instead.

Thanks man. At least I got something right... :)

It's difficult to make a piece that pleases yourself, let alone a few others thes days..

I like the sound of it myself, but it's my music.

Nice vocals man.  I like the drum sounds.  I did find the toms on the right a bit distracting.  Really nice song.  Nice chorus.  I'd try to put some of the backing vocals and harmonies back in the mix a bit...seem to be competing with the lead vocal.

Nicely done.  I, too, like the vocals, and I'm reminded of the Finn Brothers or Crowded House.  Overall, the mix sounds clear which gives your vocals a chance to shine.  I like the lyrics, too.  Keep it up.

    All the best,

    Thanks guys.

    I appreciate it.

I may try to pull down the backing vocals a bit then. I'll listen to the mix again and how they compare.

On the drums-when the drum taps come in, those are actually guitar taps that I have compressed and ran through some effect. They don't sound much like guitar taps anymore. I like the variety it can provide to the regular drum beat running through the song. Just something different. Not sure if that's the best area for it to be panned or if it would be better suited somewhere closer to the middle of the mix.

I am a Crowded House fan. Love "Don't Dream It's Over"... And enjoy some of their other songs also.

    I've remixed it some.

I changed the guitar taps to a more natural, well-guitar taps.

Panned that more center. I think 6% to the right.

Dropped the harmonies down a tad.
