She's very good. I heard an interview recently and she doesn't really like/agree with that comparison - can't understand why.

I think I would have thought that she sounded like her even if Kevin hadn't mentioned it before I listened. maybe she doesn't like being compared to her. regardless of whether she sounds like her or not she's still fantastic!

Yeah - she is the shizzle. Interesting story on how she made her first album. It was arranged and produced by an older family friend in his 'home studio' so there's hope or us lot still.

Yes, she is a very good singer...as is Daryl. And yes, rock on ol pal, he does not look or sound his age. But when you listen to these videos...hear that they have been taken and cleaned, superlatively mixed and mastered before the video is posted. It is indeed as they recorded it only "tweaked". And today that "tweaking" can be very transformative. It is quite easy to hear. No room noise...no instrument, chair, stool or bench squeak... no breaths...just very well recorded, mixed and mastered music. The actual live tracks would still sound fabulous. But not THIS fabulous.

But not THIS fabulous. Man olpal, I was sitting here watching some of these and thinking the exact same things! I'm curious as to how much production polish went into them after the fact. I was trying to see if there were any vids on this, but couldn't find any. It sounds too good to be live in my opinion. Granted, I know that every one of those players are fantastic...but there are certain elements I'm picking up on that sort of kill it for me as I know there was definitely some doctoring going on. Like for example, I'm hearing auto-tune on a few things...the kick and snare sounds fantastic, but not realistic, it doesn't sound like it was recorded there "at once"...there are a few elements that sort of bothered me...but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the show, the songs, the various artists and of course the incredible audio quality I'm hearing. I just feel it shouldn't be billed as "live" when you listen to how that sounds compared to how it would sound if it were more raw. That said, it's one of those shows when you start watching it, you simply can't stop. I wish I was famous and could get a chance to be a guest....I'd so have a blast. Maybe in another life. -Danny

James: That's some good stuff too. Tough call really but I can say this...none of it has a live sound to me. It all sounds like a polished studio record...which is a GOOD thing in my opinion. However, I really would like to hear what they are getting as far as the raw performance goes. Kev: thanks so much for that. I posted a message there....I hope Peter comes back and checks it out. Maybe he'll post a snip of what that room really sounds like so we can hear how much processing is going on. That dude really does an incredible job. It sure doesn't sound live, but man...it's the sound of greatness in my opinion. If I had to be a bit nit-picky, I'd say the only thing I would alter is the dirty guitar tones they use. Sounds a bit thin and nasaly to me...especially when T was playing some leads. But even there, it's nothing bad or annoying...just a little more sizzle than I would have allowed. He did mention the guitars were sort of a work in progress...so hey, I'm willing to accept that. :) -Danny

It would be a travesty if the raw tracks sounded like Taylor Swift or Britney Spears "from the board":-)
