Need help with making a video for the first time

I exported a video taking all the defaults. It made an avi. I though I would be able to see/hear it in something like Windows media player. It looks fine but I have no sound.

Any pointers?

    During video export, select 'audio mixdown option' - try a lower bit depth. I think 16 should work.
