the problem with all these "re" things is I already have most of them as VST's etc e.g. fxpansion and now cakewalk also the fact of if I don't wanna update reason, they aren't transferable to another daw. props should do it , that if you have the vst one, that you get the other discounted.

Thats right, agreed with both of you guys... But it really is a very nice, cleaver move... UAD should do the same.

backwoods That's cool. Nice move Cakewalk. I think it's cool that Cakewalk chose to target the Reason Community. I hope the RE-2a will be followed by some instruments. I think Reason users would like Z3TA and Rapture. And in Reason the instruments will have a backside and will be able to connect to other instruments.

Does this mean the PC2A is going to get a sidechaining feature in the future?

have to congratulate Cake for this one, didn't see this coming that's for sure. I am a user of both Sonar and Reason, I own this as a prochannel effect, and I'm not sure if I'm going to buy the RE yet or not, but damn this is interesting! Can you imagine any other DAW manufacturer creating proprietary versions of plugins for a Competing DAW? It would be great to know what the extent of this will be, any hope of a z3ta+2 or rapture for Reason? or maybe a reciprocal agreement? just would love to have malstrom in sonar, that would be awesome. any comment from cakewalk on this would be fantastic.

fwiw, i would rather cakewalk focussed on their flagship daw, then this kind of thing, else sonar will end up "jack of all master of none" :S

I'm sure propellerheads looked at the vst sdk and designed their stuff , so the transition wasn't that painful. you might as well say to make zeta+2 etc sonar only also ;-) not gonna happen. besides you dunno if they got in extra staff specifically to deal with that.

Also, it gets the Cakewalk brand name known: entirely possible that Reason users will then buy SONAR as a Rewire host as a result.

probably not as you will see some die-hard reason users use nothing BUT reason.. I bet the percentages for folk who re-wire are far higher with logic / ableton / cubase .. as a lot seem to take that route.. rewire implementation is "ok" in sonar, but in other things I use it's better
