Automation record decimation

when i record automation on a track i see nodes appear with a decent resolution. when i stop recording, many of the nodes vanish and linear slopes are inserted instead.  anyone know how i can keep all the nodes??? in the config file i tried setting automationdecimationmsec to 2 but that didn't help.  snap is off so i don't think that's an issue.  thanks!

This brings up an interesting question I've not pondered before: just how close together do automation nodes need to be?

You're assuming that finer resolution would result in smoother-sounding changes. I'm sure that's true, but obviously only up to a point.

Decreasing the interval between automation nodes down to 2 probably wouldn't help anyway. I'm guessing the fastest change you could actually hear would be around 10ms, and even then it would have to be a drastic jump - and that's assuming the effect/synth you're automating can even respond that quickly. We're talking an interval far less than the duration of a single sung consonant.

I'm going to try to find some information...

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

yeah most people  typically wont notice timing changes or latency under 100ms. im curious about consistency. i can record cc dats and draw it as well with a fine level of detail which is great for symphonic stuff . i can draw automation fairly fine detail as well but if i record it decimayion happens.  so if i wind up stretching anything the gaps and curves would be more pronounced as the resolution is lost.
