Heavy Heart

My son's New Year's Resolution was to write a song a day in 2012.  He recently penned #306!

We recorded this one and a few others Labor Day.  Here's Heavy Heart - http://imadavisnotesart.com/images/Heavy_Heart.mp3

Please let me know your thoughts!

Thanks,
Jerry

This song has a somewhat retro vibe going for it.  It has that Elvis Costello type organ and simple instrumentation that give it that punk rock sound of the 80's.  All in all, the mix sounds good on my speakers, though the drums and bass could come up a bit.  Your son's resolution is commendable because it's easier to start a song than finish it.  The only way to get better is to write, write, write.  That being said, quality is more important than quantity.  Keep em rolling.

    All the best,
    Lynn

I agree with Lynn, this has a Retro feel to it. the mix sounds good through my system. The vocals remind me of Johnny Cash. I like the progression. The arrangement is catchy. It has some hooks in it.

Nice tone on the acoustic guitar!  I think the drums and bass need to come up in the mix, and think about some stereo placement of your instruments...it seems very mono on my system....not necessarily a bad thing, but spread and/or motion add interest since so much of our music these days is listened to on earbuds.

Thanks for sharing, and great accomplishment so far on son's ambition!

    Cheers!

Great goal.  It has a good bare/gritty sound to it.  I like it.
