FTB Band (circa 1989)

While looking for the beard video..... I found this little tidbit blast from the past.

Family Tradition Band..... 6 musicians.....  we played the house gig at the American Legion post building every weekend for the better part of two and a half years. This time period when this was taped, we were all getting along really well and loving every minute of it.

The True Value country showdown came around and the first year we simply hired out as the back up band. One of the acts that came in that year was a local band who went on to win the national level grand prize (they were broke up and in debt within a year..the dream turned into a nightmare for them).... the second year we hired out and made the money again..... but decided to enter it anyway. We had to go to a different location, due to the rules, and this video was filmed.... unknown to us at that competition event venue.

We ended up winning this and headed to the next level...where unknown to us, the keyboard player's monitor was not working and he could not hear...... we still had fun.

we had a total of 10 minutes on stage, and timed this thing out so it fell within the margin of error they allowed.

This band had 3 main vocalists, 2 keyboard players, 2 guitars, bass & drums and we had a good time playing on stage.

Enjoy the video..... I won't likely be posting any more here because the sound is horrid.....recorded by the video cams used to get the video......

I think we had 2 weekends off the first year.... once we hit the 2 year point stress started to build up in the band and people got attitudes, quit, got fired, came back, the typical drama that tears bands apart..... It never made it much past that 2.5 year point where I pulled out and called it quits from music for a very long time. The band called it quits after a few more weeks. I started at that time building a small tape based studio and never returned to gigging.....although I did have several offers...... I was burned out and needed the time off from the drama of bands.
