X2 64-bit and Triangle II [SOLVED]
Is there a (simple) way to get Triangle II to work in X2 64-bit?
On a recommendation from here, I decided to read/work my way through Simon Cann's "Cakewalk Synthesizers: From Presets to Power User" (2nd edition) and try to get a little smarter about them. But I ran into a major problem right at the beginning, because the first hands-on stuff requires using the Triangle II synth, which doesn't come with X2. Innocent that I am, I thought I'd just download it from cakewalk.com as suggested, install it, and it would just work. HA!! What a fool!
Now, after many hours of frustration (and after having to completely reinstall X2, because somehow I managed to kill it while trying to get this little toy operational), I have at least got it functioning as a standalone. It shows up on the synth list in X2, but refuses to load (this under Windows 7 with a Gina 24 card, ASIO driver). Since it's working as a standalone, and I don't really need it for much longer, maybe it shouldn't matter that much, but I thought I'd post this message about it anyway, in case any one else runs into the same situation. I gotta say, it's pretty discouraging to start a book with high hopes of learning something practical about the synths in X2, and immediately getting swamped in technical issues regarding one that isn't even part of the package.
