Timeline Cursor line keeps disappearing in X2 prod...
I've got three big projects I've got to finish before Turkey Day and ol X2 is startin to aggravate me a mite. The latest thingys are: My timeline cursor/bar/line thingy just disappears and the only way to get it back is to shut Sonar down and reopen. Grrrrr. Occasionally any new inserted synth/instruments midi track starts to trigger all or some other midi tracks even tho its routed correctly. Grrrrr. PRV still opens in "minimized" view. Grrrrr. Plus the usual other distractin quirks. This sort of stuff happening to y'all???

I'm not 100% certain, since it's intermittent, but Setting Visual Effects to "Adjust for best appearance" (instead of "Let Windows choose") in Advanced Settings under System Properties seems to have eliminated this problem for me. The Now Time cursor depends on some of these effects to display properly, and letting Windows choose can cause problems by having them get turned off on the fly. EDIT: For the PRV, you probably just need to change your Docked/Undocked/Floated settings, depending on how you like to use it.

This happened to me once but then it never happened again. So I thought nothing of it.

I have found that the now time arrow and the now time get out of sync sometimes and playback will be not where it appears to be. Usually I just take the now time to the end of the screen and it forces it to sync back up again.

The disappearing cursor/bar just happened to me again while I was editing a guitar part...and this was AFTER I tried setting the "adjust for best appearance" thingy in Windows. Dern!! Plus the PRV is as screwy as ever.

Sorry to hear you're having troubles. I haven't run in to any of the things you mentioned other than a funky little thing with the time line cursor ... I noticed this the first time while I was adjusting the buffers on my FTU while I had X2 running ... I would minimize X2 so I could see the FTU console screen, and the timeline cursor thingy stayed on my desktop. In other words, it didn't minimize with Sonar. Next time it happens to you, try minimizing Sonar, or maybe switch screensets just for kicks and giggles to see what happens. The other thing ... about 'adjust for best appearance' ... don't know if you are aware of this ... but if you are running an Nvidia card, you can leave Windows set to default, and set the video adjustments per program through Nvidia's control panel. That way, once Sonar closes, you're back to Windows default settings without having to touch a thing. Good luck.

wizard71 Bub... Do you use any particular nvidia settings for sonar? The settings I use I got off of Presonus's web site. It's a generic DAW setup. Basically turn off all the 3D enhancement settings, set it for performance rather than visual, and set all the 2D stuff to minimal. In regards to graphics needs, Sonar requires very little. It needs a lot of RAM to load graphics, but doesn't need a lot of power to process them.

I know this thread is a bit old now, but did anyone ever figure out a solution to this? Having this same problem pretty often in X2 Studio, just went searching it and came across this thread. It's a pretty big hassle for me and I'd really like to find a resolution. NEVERMIND, SAW THAT THIS IS FIXED WITH THE UPDATE WHICH I HAVEN'T DONE.
