Vocal Track lagging

Hello, I am brand new to home recording. I have 4 tracks laid using the piano roll (inserting notes). When I record the vocals on the 5th track, they lag behind.
I don't know if it is a setting on the UA-4FX (usb Audio Capture) or a setting in Cakewalk.
Any advice or pointers will be greatly appreciated. :)

    Welcome to the forum!

How are your settings in the Options-dialogue: Are you using ASIO driver mode? That's the recommendable option, but WDM can work equally well.
What is your latency set at (ASIO latency in the ASIO panel or  WDM ). A maximum of around 10-12 ms is acceptable.
I assume you have installed the 64 bit version of Home Studio?

What kind of a microphone you're using? If it's  aUSB-mic, it's problematic, as it then is also a soundcard.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

I did install the upgrade to the 64 bit version of Home Studio. I just checked my driver mode and it was set to MME (32-bit), I changed it to ASIO and checked the latency.
I also noticed a check mark beside "USE MMCSS (Windows Vista)", I unchecked this since I have Windows 7.
On the microphone, I have a low impendence Shure SM58 that I tried first through the UA-4FX but now trying a high impendene Radio Shack microphone.

Thanks for your help, I am going to give it another try.

Welcome to the forum. You might alse check that both SHS 7 and the Audio Capture are using the same sampling rate and bit depth. I beleive SHS 7 defaults to 44,100 Hz @ 16-bit.
