I'm back - NEW PC !

Hi everyone , been away for a few weeks . I finally finished building my new AMD computer
that now has the power and speed to run Sonar X2 when I get around to buying that software DAW sometime before the summer of next year maybe sooner then that I hope .

Yea I have been over a period of two years buying parts for this new PC I'm on now for two years buying what I needed as I could afford them from NewEgg.com and then storing them in my closet .
I finished building two PCs this friday night , one for my wife and one for myself . Both PC's are the same AMD motherboards and processors with seven big cooling fans installed in each computer build .
I ran mine yesterday for 12 hrs while installing software and setting up software and at the end of the night there was zero heat in my case , great for working on my music for long hours on end so I'm really happy with this PC build plus this PC is 5 times faster then my other old PC I built five years ago .
I'll be able to record as many tracks as I want without having to freeze each and every track as I record .

Anyway hopefully I can start recording again next week-end , I'll spend a few days letting it run and do things online to make sure theres no running issues before I spend hours reinstalling all my music software and other software I install for flightsimming and making flightsim videos for youtube .

Thats my great news  , I guess I better check the song section out to catch up with whats going on there and leave a comment or two .

See Yea soon with a new song !

James

Wow ! Isn't that a little overkill ? Won't it add to noise output ?

Thanks , we are planning on moving to Nashville , Tn where her daughter, grand kids
and her husband work & live .
We use to live there almost nine years ago and moved to Washington on the west
            Coast .

Hi Jerry , yes both are AMD Motherboards & Processors . My old intel PC with two fans made more noise then these , they are not as noisy as you might think .
I can run these all day long and not have to worry about my motherboard and processor over heating in the summer , that was one reason I decided to choose a new case that would hold seven big fans .
Took us about eight hours to build two of them , I took my time and made sure everything inside was screwed down tight and wired perfectly to get good air flow inside .
Didn't have any issues once they were completely built , they both fired up and ran great the first time .
The next day we installed Windows XP Pro on both PC's , seems to be running great now and its much faster then the old PC I was running online .
Can't wait to start recording using this rig , hopefully no more freezing tracks .

    Congrats.

Thanks been wanting to build these for almost two years , right now I'm a happy
camper ready to start recording next week-end with some speed and power . I
feel like I just traded in my old VW bug for a new Dodge Charger ! Power under
the hood next to the my old pc .

My current DAW is an old server box with NINE (yes, 9!) fans and sounds like it too.  I have to keep it far away from the mics.

My newer PC (which may have to be used as a DAW if I don't make some good money soon) has a cooling system and is dead quiet.  Gotta love new technology!

Sounds like your running piping as cooling instead of fans , that type is very costly the last time I checked years ago .

Gotta love my trusty 2 (or is it 3?) year old DELL. It never even gets warm, no matter how long it's been slogging along with my marathon Sonar sessions. I clean the fan pretty regularly though.

Yea I did that too with all my older PCs , I open up my case once a month to blow
the case fans and also the dust on and around the motherboard . It always runs
cooler and smooth after a good clean out using some air . I used to buy can air
but after finding a good bed pump that blows out air I use it . I found a good
used electric air pump at our local GoodWill Store for $3.00 . Has a nice tip on it
that gives me good air pressure like what you get when you use can air . Its better
then paying almost six bucks a can , no more running out to WalMart now I plug-in
and blow out my PC .

Well...we're nearly neighbors!  I live in a suburb of Chattanooga.

Cool maybe after moving there we can hookup in person , we should be moving
apartment lease runs out for this year .
I'm still installing software and trying to help my wife recover her major mother
                  board crash .
She deleted a motherboard file manually and now afterthing stop working .
She can't even boot up Windows XP , we been working on trying to fix her
                  PC for hours now .
I just pray she didn't somehow do something to her brand new AMD motherboard.
She should had used the add & remove in Windows XP to remove that driver for
EXPRESS GATE in the motherboard .

I have a software called ERASE , it has a BOOT disk and allows you to BOOT
without Windows OS on the hard drive . I'm hoping she can do that and delete
the hard drive partition with her Windows XP on it plus we are going to open
up her case and reset the motherboard and remove the battery .

Anyway trying to fix her new computer is now taking up my time working on
installing all my music software and updating it , always something !
