Multiple tracks of .wav files turned into a single giant .W64 after normalizing

I selected about 20-30 tracks and performed the 'Process/Apply Effect/Normalize operation' to all the tracks as 1 single operation.  This took a while but appeard to work.  What happend though is now every track appears to be the same audio file with the track 1 name in the file name.  Track 1 which was "Kick"  turned into "Mott 2012, Kick, Edit (1).w64".

The file size of each track was 1.2GB (~2 hr live recording) to the .w64 track which is 26.7GB.
When I right click on any audio file and select 'Associated Audio File'  it only shows this large "Mott 2012, Kick, Edit (1).w64" file.

Is this OK, or should each track be its own smaller .w64 file?

Bizarre. It sounds like you somehow did a bounce rather than just a normalize operation. Each clip's file should have remained separate, and their file sizes should not have changed (normalizing does not change the size of a file).

If you really did it exactly as described - selecting all tracks and normalize - and ended up with every track pointing to the same physical file, that would seem to be a bug. Try to duplicate it, and if you can, report it to CW.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I did an experiment and renamed this 26GB .w64 file and discovered that most or all the rendered tracks are somehow part of this huge file, yet they are still individual tracks in the track view and can be mixed as individual tracks.   After renaming the 26GB file, all the tracks became silent tracks with no waveform.   The original pre-normalized .wav files are still in the folder but appear to not be used because I can remove them and Sonar still play the tracks.

I'll try to duplicate this after I get this project complete.

Having somewhat simular issue.....exporting a 37min song each time becomes a Sony W64 file....
Whatever I do, I can't get the thing to become a wav. file.
