it's on the wrong channel.  you can't exactly say "breaker, breaker seven."  that just doesn't sound right!

Breaker breaker 1  9   hey there good buddy, you got your ears on.... hows about a radio check...?

I got you wall to wall and treetop tall....!!

Man... I still have 2 of my old CB radios out in the shed. One is hooked up to my power supply and I turn it on every now and then.

I was big into this before it was all the rage.... with a set of dual hustler antennas on my ride.... and this was in the days when you had to have an FCC license to be legal.  Several folks I knew had linears and were able to skip talk to half the country with 500 to 1000 watts or more.  I remember one night "cowboy" talking to Nova Scotia for 20 minutes. I could hear both sides of the conversation. Cowboy had beams and he pointed them north and talked..... I recall him have a few linears and when he turned on the big guns, I could hear him bleeding of quite a few channels.... he was half a mile from me.

I had bought a second hand Midland which someone had juiced up a bit. The mic gain was turned up and I could use it like a power mike.... holding it 18" away was perfect.

I think those Smokey & the Bandit movies made it popular and that eventually ruined it.  Truckers moved from 10 to 19 and we used to hang on 22.... then the FCC realizing they had lost total control no longer required a license.... and it went downhill fast.

It was fun while it lasted. I think about putting one back in my truck every now and then but never do. The good one in my shop is sweet... for an old CB.... I was coming home one night from a gig and heard someone on the air at 2 am.... shouted at them and they came back and we jawed for about 10 minutes. Turned out this guy was 35 miles away.... he was on a base and I was mobile. He didn't believe me.... but then offered to buy the CB if I wanted to sell it.

With cell phones.... I'm guessing very few people use CB anymore.....

Typical CBer... To much power, no skill..

When I had a radio in the car I could talk to the US with just 10 watts.

And your license structure is much more restricted than our amateur system, Karyn.
I see you have the Full "old class A " license..I remember the sunspot cycle in the 1980s when I worked the world  on 10 meters mobile, 20 watts..
