Why on Sonar X2 I still use VST than Prochannel
1. It is not available from MCU !!!
2. There is not preset by module (you have to change all the channel or nothing)
3. you can't use browser to save/recall presets on fly
4. the 'defaut' prochannel (when you create a new track) save modules but not settings
It's really damage cause it's sound great but it is note really convenient to use. Will Cakewalk will do an effort, at least on MCU (the last MCU plugin was made in 2006 ! ) ? The ACT is a very good technologie that i did'nt find back on other DAW. The integration of ACT in the MCU protocol would achieve to convince lot of peoples to use this great Software. Please please please ... don't think only to VS-700 cause beginners won't buy this product.

As much as I love the ProChannel for convenience when changing tracks etc, I can totally relate to your #1. Fortunately I have an ACT controller as well as my MCU/XT set up so I can access it from there.
I really wish the PC was integrated into the MCU in the same way that the 'old' channel EQ and compressor was. I've had a feature request/ bug report in for a while and encourage others to do the same.
I live in hope that a control surface update is on the cards. I feel CW really are missing a trick here, especially as the Mackie protocol is so widely used. ACT is okay but there's no feed back for motorised faders to start with and it doesn't follow tracks/busses as well as the MCU does either.
The preset side I'm not so bothered about as I rarely use presets but I can understand why others would want them.

+1 I also would like this. Now mind you I use a BCF200 which is on the low side of MCU, but would still be welcome.

I mainly use the MIDI control section of my A & H ZED-R16 for ACT duties. It works pretty well, - real handy to have a lot of functions like reset meters, punch record set, etc. etc. all on the mixer while tracking. It has 12 rotaries and four faders plus eight buttons making it handy for PC control as it's laid out similar to the Quad curve EQ so that part is quite logical.
The biggest bind is there's no scribble strip for it so remembering the mapping is essential.
I also use a BCF2000 as an ACT controller but that's only because I now have a MCU & XT. The BCF is far better in Mackie mode if that's the only surface available. That works okay as well but I'd really prefer to use the MCU & XT for PC control.

Don't do the BCF down. It is IMHO one of the greatest value pieces of kit there is. I have the MCU and have used the BCF in the past. The BCF isn't quite as good as an MCU but the key word there is "Quite". It certainly isn't far short and one thing is for sure the MCU isn't £1000 better, not even close - that's the price difference here in the UK anyway. I only got the MCU & XT as I got them at bargain bucket prices - you really aren't missing out on much at all.

I totally agree ... almost incredible that they last updated the MCU in 2006!!! Anyway, cake will soon be forced by the opposition to tackle that subject. Cubase 7 is annoucing seamless support for all major control surfaces. Whether or not it'll work as promised we'll never know, BUT it is a strong argument for software sales, especially now that Cubase has caught up with cutting egde Sonar features like the pro channel. I keep my fingers crossed that we'll see this addressed with X2b (or X2c at the latest). What the competition does is way more important than the constant moaning of users in a forum
