"Monkeys" <----- Soundcloud playable and 24bit downloadable link

Monkeys, here today
Get a good pet with more play, And your O.K.
Monkeys, are a gas
Fling that doo with both hands, then scratch a snatch

High bar, swing far, four star poo cream
Think I'll find me a primate dream

Monkeys got back
They're all right Jack, Keep your hands off their ass
Monkeys, are a hit
Don't give monkeys, Do goody good bullsh!t

I'm in the hi-fidelity first class gibboning set and

I think I need a marmoset

(Sax and guitar solos)

Monkeys, they’re so fine
Treat them nicely You won’t get a banana in your eye
Monkeys, some do say
Are the root of all evil Today

I like squirrel, spider, tamarin, howler, mandrill, marmoset

(random bollocks to end)

Well, my bass ain't exactly right. I had too much drive on the LA-610 preamp so its a tad too distorted (as compared to the real record) but my performance was just right (IMO) and I did not want to mess with that success, given that I've never played this song EVER!

Thanks for the kind words eko.

    Hey, guys,

Wow, I know this is supposed to be a parody and the lyrics are a riot, but I just wanted to say that the actual performances and production are really fantastic!

Everyone did an amazing job on their specific parts, and you managed to remain really true to the original, production-wise.

Really a top quality collab, boys, nice work!

Daryl and I co-constructed the lyrics on this one.

I have to take responsibility for that line. When it came to me, I thought; "why has Bob Dylan never thought of this?"

Too much, too much not Pink Floyd.  Nice playing but the mix needs more top end.

This isn't Karaoke, it's a bunch of Forum Monkeys that did an excellent job doing a cover of an excellent tune.

Hehehehe... nice. I am hoping you paid the producer? We are all highly valued professionals and should do nothing here unless we are paid. I paid myself this morning actually, even though I really could not afford it. I think my rates are too high (scheister), so I might ask myself for some bonus studio time for free.

I skipped the Soundcloud MP3 and went straight for the 24bit wav. :-)

I'm so used to the original that it's hard not to nit pick a few things ... but I know this isn't supposed to be identical to the original, so I won't go too crazy. ;-)

The song: It's great. Great playing, extremely well put together.

Need to back off the effects on the vocals and they need to be wider. They kind of stand out in the mix and sound kind of boxy?

There's some spots that sound like they could use less effects, or no effects at all (example the sax lead).

Kinda distorts towards the end, like the input drive going in to a tube sat plug increases gradually.

The second half of the guitar is dry in the original, I prefer that. That part of the song is like they (PF) sucked all the reverb/delay out of the song and it's almost completely dry.

The bass needs to have more clarity in the upper end.

I'd like to hear Bapu sing this.

Again, that's me comparing it to the original ... hard not to with a song like this. :-)

If you left it like it is, the only things that I would do is clear up the bass a tinge, lower the vocals, bring down the effects on the sax, and add a splash ... no, on second thought, just a splish, of air to the upper end.

I liked it a lot! I'd love to do something with you guys some day now that I have high speed internet. Need to get my studio set back up though. :/

    Thanks,

    Bub
