Trim and other tools

OK. I'm new to X1. Was able to do a simple recording. But I want to clip the beginning and end of the recording. I selected the trim tool, hit Alt and nothing happened. Went to the Help source and they really don't tell you how to use it. How do you use this tool?

No need to select the trim tool. Use the Smart tool (F5), move it to the end of the clip, about halfway up. The edge of the clip will turn blue and you can click drag the clip to the size you want. If it seems to "Snap" to the wrong place, turn off or adjust your snap settings.

If you want to make the trimming permanent, right click on the clip and select "Apply trimming". If you don't apply trimming you can always drag and resize it again if you change your mind.

That worked at the end and beginning of the recording. However, at the beginning I now have a blank space which the recording goes thru before starting the music. Got to get rid of that also. Just curious why you didn't use the trim tool? That is what I thought would be appropriate. Do you own a sports bike? If so what kind? I own a CBR1000rr. Great bike.

I wouldn't use the trim tool because the smart tool does the same job but adjusts its function depending on whereabouts on the clip it is. Just saves changing tools.

To remove time at the beginning of a project you either need to leave the clips as they are then select the time range you want removed and all of the tracks, then select "Delete" from the Edit menu.

That will produce a dialogue box where you can select "delete hole".

Alternatively "select all" (Ctrl+A) and then drag the clips to where you want them, but markers etc won't be moved that way.

Bikes.....my other love...... oh yes sports bikes all the way here. I have a '05 ZX10-R for the road and an older version of your 'Blade for the track, a CBR929RRY. That's me on the 'Blade in my avatar going "Over the mountain" - a famous part of track at Cadwell Park here in the UK.

Studio when it rains, race track when it's dry.... that's the way I like to work.
