I thought I could do these sweet remixes using bootlegged songs online-like karoake and it doesn't work at all... It won't even take out my vocals very well, let alone a pro song.

Maybe some vocal eraser out there actually works, but I wouldn't know about that.

you need to find the frequency, its not about just clicking a button ,it takes works man.

i can erase any vocal track with just a parametric equilizer (at least a 64 band)
once you find the singers frequincy range its easy.
as well as removing the center track with something like Channel tools.

    +1 to R-mix.

I've only played around a bit during spare time, but have got pretty good results.  With more time I imagine you could get better.

Read Noel Borthwick's blog about using R-ix, it's very good.

Its impossible to take the vocals out 100%.  Its like trying to take out the flour in an already baked loaf of bread.

Yep, this type of processing is never perfect. Here are a couple articles that might be of help...

I have found that dubing the bass part again and adding some percussion back to the mix can make a big difference.  Depends on how much time you want to spend and how important the quality is to you.

New Tag line so I won't have to keep typing this. I may or may not have edited this yet, but I probably need to.
