Re-treading of an older thread

I am going to start over with a new thread - my original question on this got buried in a lot of other topics.

I will try for one sentence:   If I want to upgrade my PC to Win 8 (from Vista), and stay with X1 Producer for now, will Win 8 mess up my X1.

Wait for the Win 8 drivers and patchs. Roland recently released some. Check their site for X1 patchs and Cakewalks also.

Yes X1 will run fine on Win 8. I can't make it any clearer.

Just to be completely clear. When you ask about upgrading to Windows 8 from Vista you do know that the upgrade will not keep your programs and data intact. You will do better in just making it a clean install.  Vista is not supported even by MS for an upgrade as far as a migrate is conerned. It will install but it wont keep your setup the same.

If your PC is currently running Windows 7, your files, apps, and settings will easily transfer toWindows 8. If your PC is running Windows XP or Windows Vista, you'll need to reinstall your apps after you upgrade.

The above is from MS directly

Win 8 mess up my X1.

Absolutely, it will mess up your X1. Depending on what you mean by mess up.

There is no way to do an "upgrde" installation of any version of Windows 8 from any version of Vista. You must do a "custom" installation. The Windows 8 upgrade media/download will allow you to preserve your data, but will remove all of your programs that are installed (registered) under Vista. Same problem if you use a Windows 8 full product DVD. You will need to install everything again.

That is quite different from saying that you will not be able to run X1 under Windows 8 after you re-install it. And it does not imply that all of the other plugins, interfaces etc. will run under windows 8.
