As Beagle pointed out the drum synth in many cases allows you to set up either a stereo out to one track or, depending on the synth, either drum groupings or individual tracks for each drum/instrument.
I'm generally too lazy to spend that kind of time to set each part of the kit to a different track, adjust levels, EQ, compression and all that stuff on a track by track basis for a drum kit.
I opt for the one track method.....and therefore have all my synths defaulted to one track out for drums.
Back to the topic.....check the synth's output options. In Jamstix, I think (I don't use it much these days) , the outputs are set up so you can get multiple outputs but there are not enough in JS for each part of the kit to have it's own track/output.... so grouping of toms is needed.....as well as cymbals.... I believe JS has 8 outputs and the average kit can easily have 2x that number of pieces.
