step sequencer view question

Hi all - I'm new to Sonar (new to home recording actually!) and this is my first post to this forum. I have Sonar X1 Studio. I have a question about the step sequencer view. I've searched all over the forum and looked in the help files, and I can't find an answer. I entered a four bar sequence and then wanted to extend it to eight bars, each bar having eight steps. For me, the ideal way to set up a sequence is on the fly, while it's playing. However, my monitor only displays just over six bars. While it's playing, as the sequence reaches the seventh bar, the view jumps onto the section that's playing. When the sequence returns to the start the view jumps back to the start. This makes it impossible to enter steps while the sequence is playing. Is there a way to stop the view jumping around while the sequencer is playing? Thanks in advance for any replies...

So essentially what you'd need is for the step sequencer to scroll? Unfortunately it doesn't do that. It's a shame it's not scalable, sometimes I have 16 step sequences and I like to add/delete notes as it's playing too. I agree it's a pain.

The Step Sequencer is still fairly primitive in those kinds of things.

Sorry - it's a pain for lots of us.

Maybe if you submit a featiure request it will the one that get them to bump up priority on some of these kinds of things.

Welcome to Sonar, and to this forum.  One thing that would really us to help you for any future posts, is for you to edit your forum profile, and add your system specs, like you see for sharke and for me.

What that does is it gives us an idea of what you are running things on, which may give us clues in how to better help you with issues.

I forgot to add, when you get in the edit of your forum profile, you would add the specs under the signature, and then make sure you check the box that tells it to add your signature for all of your posts.  Then we will see them.

Thanks for the replies. I was pretty sure I hadn't missed any hidden controls for the step sequencer. Submitting a feature request is a great idea.
