Audio Scaling seems frozen on 3 tracks in a project (not all tracks)
http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR X2&Lang=EN&Req=EditingAudio.13.html Audio Scaling is frozen on 3 tracks but not on others. based on the link here, it doesn't appear that I should be able to freeze audio scaling. The scale on the frozen tracks doesn't say DB in the middle. It shows -42 at the bottom and climbs to +6 at the top. Right clicking the bar on those 3 tracks doesn't give me the 3 choices pop up so I could see DB/Zoom Factor/Percentage. Using alt+up and down arrows does change the scaling on the all tracks, but I can't reset the scaling by double clicking the scaling bar on those three tracks. What have I done to make it behave this way... any ideas? Win8 x64 > x2 x64

Could those tracks be locked?

The lock shows as off. To be sure, I turned the lock to Pos/Data then tried it then back to off and tried it. No difference. I also did a comparison of properties between the tracks that work and the tracks that don't and I can't find a property that might be causing the problem. it isn't that big of a deal, but I thought I'd post. Thanks for answering, John.

For further oddness, the tracks that have the issue seem to have changed. Currently it's tracks 3 + 5 which is the inverse of before when it was tracks 1,2 and 4 that were not alterable. No idea when they changed or what I did that flipped it. Could be turning off my system to go read a bedtime story to someone small.

OK try turning off auto Zoom. This is a long shot though.

Auto Zoom didn't do it; and a full restart (restarting using the restart button to get a complete restart rather than the win 8 soft boots). Shrug. I don't know. I'm sure it won't be there on the next project. If I find the keystroke that's doing it, I'll let you know. Again, alt arrows work to alter scaling, but click drag on the tracks does not. Also, I cannot left click to get the context menu to change the label for the scaling... and this only on the arbitrarily effected tracks. The tracks with the problem show a range like this +6 0 -6 -12 -30 ... on the 2 tracks that are currently showing this instead of ... -3 -6 DB -6 -3 ... I cannot alter the scale measure unit or multiplication of the scale presentation without using the alt arrows method.

I feel I should add that double clicking the range on tracks that cannot be altered by click dragging in the bar... double clicking the bar resets to wave form to normal scaling (1x). And I'm posting this in the forum rather than to Cakewalk b/c I don't have a repeatable method yet. Work in progress.

So, not sure what to do here, I posted to the Help file in the comments section. The scale I describe above isn't listed in the help file, so I mentioned it and linked to this thread. I have been unable to resolve it in my very long project (3 hours). I doubt it will occur in my next project. As a final note, I want to mention that the only tracks with the symptom are mono tracks.

Make sure your tracks edit filter is set to clips, if the edit filter set to anything else you cannot scale the wavform. HTH Tom

Thanks Saintom. You got it. That was my issue. And the different scale shows the scale for the envelope with the focus. Genius! Ok, now that I know how it works, I think it's great!
