Dub sound...

Just for fun lately, I've been trying to achieve more of a dubstep effect on some of my synth tracks with the existing tools that come with X2. So far, for this purpose, I think the most useful effect is the Cakewalk Mod_Filter but there isn't a lot of documentation...

I get the sound I want, but I can't seem to sync it to tempo, even though the effect provides multiple sync options with the 'tempo sync' knob... The LFO Rate (Hz) knob will change the sync timing, but it is near impossible to dial it in... Probably a stupid question, but is there a conversion factor between bpm and Hz?

Can't quite figure out what the sync knob does exactly with this effect... can't hear a difference.

Any other suggestions / tools do you guys use?

For a real dub sound you want a tape echo simulation where the sound is simulated going though heads on tape and degrading every repetition just ending in noise.

There's also the thing where you change the delay time while it's feedbackin and the pitch changes.

    My favorite: http://www.audiodamage.co.../product.php?pid=AD006

Simple and easy to bind everything to a controller for realtime dub fx.

Dub? Dubstep? If' you're thinking of that Wobble bass and LFO synths, do a search on YouTube. Many nerds give some great advice and tutorials on creating this and I am learning this my self these days.

I don't think you want to use a plugin for it, just program a patch - or tweak a preset - with the neccesary parameters so you get LFO speed, synced, on pitch bend wheel and filters on the modulation wheel. I find that this is a pretty good sollution and seems to be popular among the performers in Dubstep
